Just as a bow kept strung loses its usefulness, so humans cannot stand continuous tension. It is essential to be able to relax both body and spirit, as needs demand, in any place at all. Many people feel that it is impossible to relax when something big is happening. This notion arises from the illusion that when one is relaxed he is weak.
Dale Eisenberg, Chief Instructor info@lagunahillsaikikai.com Dale was raised in Anaheim, CA and trained in Aikido, Judo and Kung Fu as a child. Dale started formal training in Aikido in 2003 at Aikido of Southern Orange County. He received his Shodan in 2008 and began instructing classes for adults and children.
Aikido is a Japanese self-defense martial art that is based on harmony. With good timing and optimal positioning, we learn to throw and pin "attackers" without harm. Unlike other common martial arts, Aikido does not emphasize competition against others or winning. Emphasis is placed on safely learning how to do & receive techniques.
Arrive early before the training session to focus, stretch out and assist fellow practitioners in sweeping the mat. Training encompasses many aspects of participation in the dojo, and everyone works toward creating and maintaining a positive and respectful environment. Aikido training is a partnership, not "me vs you".
