This dump is finally closed down! It should have happened a long time ago. The food was crap, the building is a run down dump, and the owner was an obnoxious nasty old man. I hope they tear down this eyesore soon!

First time stopping in yesterday. First, our food was good. Second, the building condition is not up to my standards. I'll explain, needs paint, new siding, new carpet, new bathroom and a thorough deep cleaning. On my way to the bathroom I could see that they had all the serve safe items (bleach, sanitizers, etc) on shelves and I felt that the food was most likely handled properly but geez, clean up the place. I would give it more stars for the food if the establishment didn't look like it should be condemned.

So.... we are currently at this place for the first time. Kinda want to try the food. We looked online and assume that there is probably no place to eat because it looks so small. We ask a man that walked outside (which looks like he works here) if there was a dinning in area... he said yes! And walked away from us. I really didn't think anything to it until I looked back again and he was looking at us and shook his head rapidly with disgust of some sort. After ordering my food which we spent 60$ on we realized this guy does work here. So let's make this short and sweet! First impression

Why hasn't the town closed this place?

Very disappointed that I didn't see the recent reviews before placing an order today, about a couple hours ago on DoorDash.
DoorDash delivered food on time and the item missing was;
1. Lobster Roll - Large
DoorDash gave me a quick credit for the missing item, thanks.

The clam chowder was okay, not bad, I am sure that comes from the wholesale suppliers.
Onion rings looked gross and didn't taste good, these were dull.
Buffalo Fried Shrimp is okay but weren't tasty enough, didn't eat more than one!
Lobster roll was missing, given the

We contacted Dave about catering our wedding in October and we have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say! We had a group of fifty for the wedding, discussed what we wanted with Dave, and left the rest up to him. The staff was there on time, pleasant and friendly, and even packed up any leftovers so that we could take them home. The food was incredible! Our guests are still talking about it! We wanted something different than the standard plated wedding meal and we were able to build our menu with Dave. The catering menu is huge! If you want something just ask! Everything was set and ready to

Went in for a simple ham and cheese sub, and noticed it was nearly $1 more than the roast beef. When I simply asked why the older guy at the counter (owner?) said "are you serious" and went off on me like I was some punk. Not that I was impressed by a flimsy $9.00 ham and cheese, but these guys don't have to worry about me EVER coming back. My advice ... stay away from this dump and the extremely rude people. Too bad I have to give them 1 star!!

Very disappointed. Expensive not very clean none of the worker had gloves on. I had the clam strips best part was onion rings. Parking lot looked like a junk yard for a restaurant supply. I'll spend time a drive to Kelly's or take a trip to Essex Rt 133

Wanted chowder and always got the best around town from here. Imagine my disappointment when the $7 clam chowder was all potato and half mixed cream. No seasoning as in past and no clams- not one.
Ok so move on to the steak bomib sub - could not eat it. Over cooked, no cheese and stale bread.
Said I would try one more time, this was it, never again...

Love the soup and the food here. Usually go with French onion and it's always perfect last time we got mozzarella sticks and fried pickles both were delicious! Can't wait to go back

Been a fan for a long time. Best steak and cheese in town! Fried seafood dinners are great too. I now live 5 states away but every time I go home, I make a point to stop in for lunch. Can't go more than 3 months without their onion rings!!!!

This place has been around forever. My family came here often for takeout when I was a kid fifty years ago. Not the best food in the world but good solid product that is filling and plentiful. I have only ever got take out here so cannot comment on the restaurant. The seafood is fried and typical of this type of cuisine. My opinion may be influenced by my nostalgia for the place.

Never got the chance to try it. The guy on the phone was so rude! I called to place a catering order for a family going through illness. It got so bad that I finally asked him if he wanted my business. He said, "I'll tell you what, why don't you go somewhere else?" Then he hung up on me. Ok buddy, you just lost my business and any referral I could have sent you. Poor customer service is inexcusable. How do they stay open?

EWWWWW! What!!??? Sorry! Walked in on a Friday night with my boyfriend. The older man at the counter was pretty unpleasant! Asked him for two lobster rolls and if they were any good..I think he let out a grunt. Not a good start.

Walked into the dining room and it was absolutely filthy. Tables were not cleaned off..Floors covered in filth. I had to clean off my own table and wipe off my own seat.

Got our two lobster rolls and looked like the lobster meat was actually minced with enough mayo for 4 lobster rolls. Every bite you took there was a nice long string you had to pull out of your

10.50 for a 1lb. Lobster roll... Yes please. This local hole in the wall is a hit and for good reason. 17 soups on tap daily, and fresh seafood ready to rip in the fryer. I had the clam chowder which was thick and creamy as well as a lobster roll plate that came with fries, onion rings, and slaw. 2 of us walked out for under $20.00. I will be back to explore the menu and update my review!

French's doesn't spend alot of time/money on fancy stuff (like paint for the exterior or ANY kind of inside decor beyond a few bare booths) but the food here is GREAT! The soups and fried seafood are terrific. Fish chowder is my fav, my dad raves over the old fashioned split pea and mom likes the french onion or corn chowder, all served in attractive styrofoam bowls. And with plenty of good oyster crackers.
If you can get beyond the asthetics, this place ROCKS!
UPDATE: 6/17/15 - OMG!! THEY PAINTED THE PLACE!! Now it looks decent (outside anyway) & still has those great soups in those

Note: This review is of their catering service only, I've never eaten from the restaurant.

We used French's to cater our wedding, which was in a back yard and on a budget. When my wife and I initially met with them, it was great... we expected it to be difficult to get them to work with our budget, but she was very helpful and presented us with many more options than we thought we'd have. So they made the planning a pretty stress-free experience, thankfully.

We ended up using their "pasta bar" as the main course, which consisted of two very large trays of tortellini
