First Eye Care, Inc. is an association of optometrists formed in 1985. Our goal is to have successful practices filled with happy patients. The original 18 doctors maintain independent optometry practices in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Grand Prairie, Carrollton, Plano, Irving, Bedford, Killeen, Southlake, Prosper, Weatherford, Roanoke, Corsicana and North Richland Hills.
Dr. Roger Weikum earned his Doctorate in Optometry in 1974, graduating from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Dr. Weikum is a Therapeutic Optometrist and has done post- graduate work in ocular therapeutics and glaucoma. He is licensed in the treatment and management of eye disease, infections, eye allergies, injuries, and an alternative to Lasik surgery - Corneal Mold for myopic reduction.
Dr. Weikum does a great job about really explaining what is going on with your eyes and steps to improve either the condition or the sight. Parking is always reimbursed so the drive to downtown isn't irritated by having to pay to park. Staff calls or texts before hand to provide reminders which is nice for someone like me who needs a heads up.

During a complete eye exam, your eye doctor will not only determine your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses, but will also check your eyes for common eye diseases, assess how your eyes work together as a team and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health. A comprehensive eye exam includes a number of tests and procedures to examine and evaluate the health of your eyes and the quality of your vision.

There are a few reasons I feel compelled to write a poor review. The lack of safety measures is really shocking. Only one person (the brunette receptionist) wears a mask covering her nose and mouth. At the start of my appointment, there was a blond employee that conducted a few eye tests. She was inches away from my face and had her nose hanging out of he mask the entire time.
The optometrist Dr. Weikum, conducts his exams in a tiny room- door closed with no air circulation. He wears a bandana type mask, the bottom is basically open! He's right in your face and doesn't bother to wear a medical

At First Eyecare Dr. Weikum takes the time to explain the tests he is giving and how they help him to diagnose any problems with your eyes. From the moment you walk in to the time you leave, you know this place is different - its more than just an eyeglass shop. The courteous staff, the thorough tests, and the quality time spent by the doctor all add up to real optical "Care" at First EyeCARE.

Dr Weikum is a very knowledgeable and patiently answers all of my questions. In addition to excellent medical care he is also experienced with nutrition and all of the factors that can be employed for optimum eye health. He is the best practitioner I have found out of all of the health care providers I have known. Highly recommended.

Dr. Roger Weikum for decades and he is the best in the business. On our last scheduled visit, we had the pleasure of meeting and received eye care, testing and assessment by Dr. Tyah Johnson. Dr. Johnson is personable, easy to talk to, and very friendly. Most importantly, very knowledgeable, thorough and exhibited care and concern for our health and well-being. I initially made our appointment to wait until Dr. Weikum could see us after the holidays, but rescheduled our appointments to meet with Dr. Johnson who we had not met, but heard good

I am so happy to submit a review of one of the best offices I have ever visited. I have been a patient of Dr. Weikum's for well over 20 years. Never once have I felt rushed, pressured or left without the knowledge that I have been in excellent hands. He is vastly informative and allows you to understand the details of your comprehensive examination. The staff is friendly and accommodating. My last appt was for a abraided eye injury and they worked me in that morning although he was busy and needing to leave for his afternoon patients at his other office in Irving. I highly recommend Dr. Weikum
