The Louisiana Mortgage Lenders Association has grown in membership strength steadily and is the successor organization of the Louisiana Mortgage Bankers Association formed in 1948 and the Louisiana Association of Mortgage Brokers formed in 1994. LMLA members currently originate and/or service multi-millions of dollars in residential and commercial loans across the state.
These loans are made to build or purchase homes, apartments, office buildings and shopping centers while providing jobs for substantial numbers of workers throughout the state. Member firms consist of mortgage bankers, mortgage brokers, banks, and savings and loan associations that are doing business in Louisiana.

Regular members are members of organizations that participate in the mortgage lending business as a wholesale lender, bank, company licensed by OFI as a mortgage lender. Regular Members will receive a discount on the registration fees for the Annual Education Conference. LMLA dues are $95.00 per year.

Title V of the Law, "Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" or S.A.F.E. Mortgage and Licensing Act of 2008, established requirements for the licensing of Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs). The S.A.F.E. Act requires MLOs to pass a qualified written test, to complete pre-licensure education courses, and to take annual continuing education courses.
