The American Wave Perm is a modern perm. This perm has a soft and bouncy feel. For those who want to evolve their naturally straight, fine or limp hair to a texture that is sexy and beach-y; or for those who want their naturally curly hair pattern to have a consistent wave pattern. This vegan perm is color-safe, odorless, thio and ammonia-free.

Every Monday (when we are closed for service) the salon receives professional thorough sterilization and cleaning.
Important: Your hair cut will be performed on dry hair. Please arrive with hair is its natural curl pattern, unwashed, detangled, product-free and non-stretched or elongated. This is a cold therapy treatment using a cold iron that chills at -14F to infuse hyaluronic acid into the cortex of the hair.
CANCELLATIONS: Should you need to cancel or move your appointment we ask that you give us a 24 hour cancellation notice of your scheduled appointment. A credit card is required prior to reserving all appointments. A $75 cancellation will be charged only if the 24 hour cancellation of your service is not honored.
Your service will include (if necessary and as decided by your stylist's hair and scalp examination). Please check your appointment confirmation to ensure we have booked you for the appropriate finish [i.e., Wash and go, Set, Blow-out or silk out]. As this may require additional time. If additional time is needed please either give us a call at 201.309.1200 or email frontdesk@mytousledhair.com.

I LOVE this salon! I came in with badly damaged hair in a pretty unpleasant color and left with an amazing cut and color and my hair feeling healthy again. Everyone here was so kind, fun and knowledgeable, Rita works miracles and I will absolutely be back!

So I went past this salon the other day and remembered the first and only time I went there. It was about 3 years ago , I was still postpartum and haven’t gotten my hair professionally done since my daughter was a month old. I booked to go for a curly cut and was even more excited because it was black owned and the owner had the cutest dog and the friendliest staff. Rita and I chatted about she showed the aveda products she was going to use as well as her own products. I’ve used aveda before and it works great with my 3b 3c hair. I had my first appointment at Tousled recently and it was amazing! I've got fairly long curly hair (type 3b/3c) and hadn't had it trimmed or shaped in around 2 years when I went in to see her (so my hair was in a pretty rough spot). After talking with Rita about what I was doing for hair care and what I was hoping for with a haircut, she set to work and made my hair look the best it's looked in years! Rita is highly skilled, super knowledgeable and a really lovely person in general. I couldn't be happier with the results and can't recommend Tousled enough!

The Gold Standard for hair care and maintenance. Rita exceeds my expectations on what a hair stylist should be. She loves her craft. She's no ordinary hair stylist. She is an Alchemist. She turns your hair into gold. And that is the way I feel when I leave and...my hair is maintained for four months after. You can find many salons that will make your hair look great for a day or a week but, very few will leave looking great for months. You will have to maintain your hair regularly with good products and she has some beauties. This is not cheap and maybe that is the issue with some salons

I learned new treatments for maintaining my hair that I can use during the four months I’m away. I walk out with products will keep my hair healthy and I follow her advice between visits. I came to Rita for the first time a little leary about getting color treated because I have severe itchiness after color treating my hair. Rita was able to work her magic and covered my gray hair and to my delight the itchiness was minimal. She was friendly and professional and gave me great advice on taking care of my hair and color. I will definitely be going back to Rita and the beautiful Tousled Salon.

Ok, as any girl with curly hair knows, it's terrifying to try out a new salon. I'm sooo glad I did though!! The whole experience was amazing. The salon is small and intimate, I just saw Rita and one other lady (plus the cutest dog) . Super nice; offered drinks etc. and I felt really comfortable with their Covid protocols. The music playing was great, just overall great ambiance to the place.

Rita is chill as heck. Her space is clean and happy and inviting. She gave me the best haircut of my entire life, she knew exactly how I wanted it and I didn’t feel rushed by her. She really took her time and I’m in love with the results. As a haircut-phobe, I don’t trust just anyone with my hair. Rita is worth every cent, seriously. Thanks girl!!

I recently moved to JC after being in Boston for 12 years and I was really nervous that I wouldn't be able to find someone good to cut my thick curls without going into NYC and spending $1500. So happy that I found Rita and Tousled. First of all, the atmosphere of the small salon is really nice and calming, and her dog is adorable. Second of all, Rita took the time to really listen to what I was frustrated with when it came to my hair, and what I was looking for. Then she made a recommendation for what she thought would be best to do based on the pictures I brought and she went right to work

Your "stylist" gave me THE WORST haircut I've ever received. I recently received an advertising email from this salon and relived the nightmare I experienced all over again (taking YEARS! TO GROW MY HAIR BACK)! To add insult to injury your salon handled it SO poorly (which was worse than the cut itself). She took my VERY LONG HAIR and CUT SO DEEP INTO IT at my chin!!!! that I had to cut my hair past my shoulders to make it right!!!! I complained about it then with ZERO!! care or concern or reimbursement from the owner (who responded smugly and with complete indifference). YOUR

I have been here a few times and am used to getting there at my appointment time and then waiting for Rita to free up. The last time I got an appointment for 6.45 and was given a robe and chair after a few minutes of waiting. By 7.15 when nothing happened I asked Rita (who was attending to 2 other customers) how long I might be there since I was hoping to leave at 8. She said "I can't say how long". It's not bad enough that they overbooked but to to it the unprofessional and unapologetic attitude was uncalled for. I hate changing salons but this was the last draw for me. Just

Went to tousled hair salon from the moment I walked in I was greeted with smiles. If your anything like me I do not allow anyone to touch my hair. But she came highly recommended by my sister I decided to give it a try. I must say I have no regrets. She listened to what I wanted, she took her time from cut to shampoo to blow drying. By the time I left Rita had my hair looking red carpet ready and feeling like a model. Thanks Rita you have a customer for life.

I sent my daughter to get a blunt cut. Straight, no frills, extremely basic cut and she came home with hair that was beyond uneven! I have posted a picture to illustrate how horrible it was. She went back and instead of a full apology I got an attempt at reasoning saying that if you part it on a certain side! Ridiculous! William who cut it to begin with, fixed it somewhat but for $90 dollars? This is unacceptable. I shall not be going back nor do I recommend anyone taking a chance at getting their haircut there. Although this is an adorable salon with great ambience and an adorable dog that hangs around, I'm extremely unsatisfied with my haircut with Bill.
I have gone to this salon before with Another stylist who was no longer working there but thought I'd try my luck with someone else since my last experience there was great.
Before getting my hair cut I spent at least 5 min explaining that I really want to keep the length of my hair and would like 1/4in at the very most an inch off. He reassured me he was "not scissor happy" and would add in some layers as a way to get rid of

I always heard about Tousled but would keep forgetting to book with them because I will often go a year before doing anything with my hair. I finally remembered this year and am I glad I made the call. Rita listened to my concerns about chopping my hair off and managed to give me a style that flatters my round face, is easy to manage, and "grows out gracefully" since it's highly likely I will not get my hair cut again until next year, despite Rita threatening to send an Uber for me once it's time.

Not a salon for curly girls. My poor little girls cut is all uneven. If you have curls don't come to this salon. Sadly to say I was hoping to find someone in my home town who knew how to deal with curls but this salon ruined it for all the rest. I should have known to run out the door when Rita asked me how I wanted my daughters cut and when she claimed she had to wash it in order to see her curl pattern. Curly girls cut should always be done when your hair is dry not wet. I said let me give her a try but that was my biggest mistake ever. My daughters curls look better when I style them and

Small salon but lots of charm! I tried this place 2 years ago now when I drastically chopped my hair and have been coming in from LIC ever since.
Rita is amazing as she really recommends what would suit you best and is really attentive to any concern or issues. I also get my whites dyed and they do great job. I love how they take care of you and make you feel at ease. This is why I will be loyal....you walkout feeling relaxed and with great hair every time!!

I was in emergency mode...it was a week before my wedding and I had an appointment with my usual lady to touch up my roots. Then my girl at my usual salon (that shall not be named) quit and they cancelled my appointment because they could not fill with me another person. I was like..you do know I'm getting married next week becuase I have a bridal package..how could you do this to me? They didnt care.

I just got another impeccable hair cut by Kitty. Her attention to detail is superb. Her skills with the scissors are second to none. I have been going to Tousled for about two years now, so that is at least 8 or 10 cuts, seeing Brandon before Kitty. I have pin straight hair and I do not color it (blessed with strawberry blond) and I love this place. I love that I can book an appointment online from my phone by just clicking "repeat," always the offer of a beverage when I walk in the door, always a great head massage while they wash my hair, always the amazing smells of Aveda products

This is my second time coming to this salon that I stumbled upon while looking for a quality salon in Jersey. My first time here was okay, but not something to rave about, so I tried a new stylist the other day and I'm so happy I gave this place another shot!
Gianna was amazing and listened attentively to exactly what I was looking for in my haircut. I have very thick wavy hair and for about a year my side bang has been such a hassle to get cut, since no one has been able to get the right side swept bang I was looking to achieve.
