Services
Boardwalk Recovery Center offers outpatient services for adult men with substance use, mood, personality, and trauma or stress related disorders in Pacific Beach California. Our IOP program focuses on healing relationships, improving emotion regulation, challenging problematic thought patterns, and building coping skills needed to thrive.
Individual, group, and family therapy are offered so each client can focus their efforts on what works best for them. Each client receives an individualized treatment plan that outlines tailored clinical interventions for their problem areas based on a clinical assessment. This plan serves as the foundation of their return to a lifestyle based on living a life with purpose and meaning.
Boardwalk Recovery Center provides psychotherapy in group and individual sessions. Our psychotherapeutic approach is based on evidence-based practices for the treatment of substance use, mood, personality, and trauma/stress related disorders. CBT is one of the most researched psychotherapies and was found to be highly effective for those struggling with substance use disorders.

The only reason I give it two stars is for the sole reason of having an amazing therapist and caseworker. And for blessing me with the opportunity to continue my recovery at a better facility. By discharging me for verbally communicating my feelings and emotions with a fellow peer who practically assaulted me.

Well I must say after 13 years of going back and forth from jail to rehab to sober living all over the country this place called boardwalk recovery has been my saving grace... I came on a tour while in impatient rehab and said this is where I wanna go.. 8 months later I'm still here. In san Diego almost through the program ...the sober houses are the nicest houses I've lived in over the years. Boardwalk recovery is an outstanding program that does so much more than treat addiction. When I arrived at Boardwalk I was greeted with smiles and genuine caring hands. I was made to feel comfortable during my entire stay. The staff at the center and the sober living homes are professional but also have great personalities. This place has completely changed my life. I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for the staff and the treatment I have received from them. I came into Boardwalk after losing everything and I was completely broken. I arrived at Boardwalk being my third treatment center In less than a year. I couldn’t stay sober to save my life and Boardwalk gave me the tools to attain the sobriety I needed. Their clinical team is amazing, Dr. Josh is by far one of the best in the business. The owner Tommy really cares about those in the program and it shows. I’ve been to previous treatment centers and owners have been rude and disconnected. Tommy took the time to talk with me and when I decided to find different housing he helped me transition. I came to Boardwalk Recovery in a lot of pin and anguish. I suffered from a Xanax addiction as well as alcoholism and multiple eating disorders. I met my sponsor through the center and, with the aid of the counseling I received there as well as the book study and trauma processing groups, I can honestly say I am happier and healthier than I’ve ever been. Where do I start, this place was amazing. If you are looking for a great aftercare place I highly recommend this place no matter where you are from. The staff is highly competent and extremely smart. The staff here really does care about you and doesn’t look at you like a cash cow. Dr.Karst among the other therapists are amazing. Personally, I had Dr.Karst and she really dove head first into the issues that were prominent motivators to my drug and alcohol abuse. All the house managers here are awesome and all the houses are in really good locations. Everything that this program offers is beyond

My experience here was one that I will never forget. The complete devotion by the entire staff to the recovery of their clients is outstanding! The staff at Boardwalk helped me lay the foundation to create an amazing life that I did not believe possible for myself. I pictured life sober to be dull, and boring, but I can honestly say that my time at this program was one of the most enjoyable times of my entire life. To everyone at Boardwalk, thank you so much!
