I wasn't hungry so didn't order anything, but the fish and chips my wife got was great. The batter on the fish was crispy and just thick enough. The chips were potato wedges fried to an ultimate crisp. Wasn't a fan of the coleslaw (the raw kale in it was a bit bitter), but everything else was on point

We ate at Frank O'Dowds after an evening checking at the Irish Cottage Inn. It was so nice to be able to just walk over to the restaurant after unpacking and getting comfortable. The atmosphere was great. Lots of furniture and bar equipment from Ireland. The restaurant has a great feel! The service was great and attentive. I got the fish and chips, which is usually quite a gamble in most restaurants. But It was absolutely done perfectly here! I knew I was in for a treat when they offered malt vinegar as a condiment! Visiting from out of town and wanted something that wasn't swarmed with tourists. Remembered that we liked this place a few years ago and came back. The food and service was excellent, just like last time, and they had live music for lunch time on a Saturday! Good prices for the quality of the food. Whenever we come back to Galena, we will stop back in!

Some of the best fish n chips I've ever had! Their chips were big wedges of fried potatoes that were perfectly seasoned. The fish had a light, crunchy batter that didn't leave me feeling greasy. Their poutine appetizer was a great mix of cheese curds, Irish "chips", and sauce. The decor and atmosphere we're really cool with the dark wood and Irish sayings and signs everywhere.

Great Restaurant and Great Hotel
We had a girls weekend and stayed at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and more than accommodating. We had dinner at the Frank ODowds Pub on Saturday night and it was phenomenal. The food was not your typical bar food but was totally upscale, plated, and served at very reasonable price. They also had live music that was an awesome addition. Be sure to visit. Thank you and keep up the great work. We certainly will be back.

We stayed in the hotel and had the complementary breakfast here. The staff was pretty friendly, and they also tried to sit the customers with some social distancing. The breakfast was also not too bad (scone, orange juice, coffee/tea, scramble eggs, sausage, potatoes and some fruits). Love the interior design of this space - would look forward to having some beers here in the evening!
