We invite you to become part of a community of faculty and families committed to helping students learn to experience their successes with grace and face their failures with courage as they lay the foundation upon which they will build the life of their own choosing.

At Alta Vista we are committed to preparing the children during their formative years to build a strong foundation with the skills and character needed to successfully follow their path in life. Children who are given the opportunity to work hard, to accomplish big and difficult things, and contribute to their community are better prepared to navigate the joys and challenges of adult life.
Welcome to Alta Vista Montessori School, we are excited to begin this process and look forward to getting to know you and your family. We have open enrollment, so students can be accepted at any time during the year when space is available. Below are the steps we will follow during the admission process.
We usually have a wait pool of applicants for our Infant and Toddler classrooms. As children move up into the Primary level, spaces become available. We also have a wait pool of children (3 and 4 years old) to fill any additional Primary spaces once our toddlers have moved up.
Applicants are chosen from these wait pools using factors such as whether the child is a sibling, age and gender of the applicant, and whether a Montessori education is the parents' desired choice. We accept applications up to one year in advance so the waiting could be up to one year, but in general it is a lot shorter.

Children five months or five years of age have already embarked on a journey from which they are learning great lessons, those that are traditionally academic and those that will shape their personality and character. We help our students to learn and understand the world, so that one day they'll know how to make it a better place for themselves and others.

Alta Vista is a warm, inviting AMI Accredited Montessori school where children and teachers have created a happy, loving community. On the day we visited a young boy came over and read a short book. Upon finishing the first book he got another book, and then another, and then another. After a while he looked cheerfully at us and said 'I can read'!!! Two five-year-olds were doing a map of the United States while a couple of younger children had a lesson on quadrilaterals. Other children were painting, writing, working with math materials and so on. Children who remain at Alta Vista Montessori through

My two children (ages 2 years and 4.5 years) have been attending Alta Vista since February 2016 and it's been a wonderful experience for all of us. My son is in the toddler community and he's learned to do so much for himself and with others! The directress is wonderful and the assistants are great; one of his first words was the teachers name! I'm also proud to say that he is 100% toilet trained and that wouldn't have been possible without the constant help (and changes!) from the guide and assistants.

Alta Vista has been an amazing program at helping my child to be at her best in many areas: academics, leadership, sensitivity to others, as well as personal care of herself and the world around her. I initially chose the program because I saw that Alta Vista staff were committed to the emotional development of the children around them. This remains true. Also, she is now entering first grade above her peers in math, reading, and writing with the ability to empathize with others, be supportive to others, and be true to herself. I don't know that I will get this kind of gain, in her whole person
