In this mixed-age program, a child experiences our rich academic curriculum and develops independence, empathy, and a love of learning. This program deepens skills, building a solid foundation for later academic work and allowing children to take on leadership roles within their classrooms. Early Bird & After School Club programs start the fun early and end the day to meet your schedule.

Spanish, Music, Yoga and science offer additional programs to broaden your child's experiences. Kindergarten is the culmination of the Montessori three-year cycle. Your child will expand upon the skills that they have established in their first two years at VGM while deepening their knowledge and gaining invaluable leadership skills as the leaders in their classrooms.

A Village Green Montessori School, located in downtown Libertyville, was founded by resident Ann Phillips. Ann is an experienced Montessori directress certified by the American Montessori Society. She began teaching at Highland Park Montessori (owned by her sister) in 1998.

A Village Green Montessori is affiliated with the American Montessori Society, and is registered with the Illinois Department of Education and the Illinois Association of Montessori Schools. The school serves children ages two to six and includes a kindergarten program. The purpose of A Village Green Montessori is to guide children in becoming creative and capable individuals who are fully aware of themselves, others, and the world around them.
Maria Montessori developed her approach over 100 years ago based on her observations of children, and discovered that they have a genuine thirst for knowledge. The Montessori method is one of the few teaching methods that has truly withstood the test of time. When we follow the child and treat each one as an individual, he becomes absorbed and motivated to learn.
One of the most daunting and yet most rewarding decisions a parent can make is the type of education that they will provide for their child. So: why should you choose Montessori? Montessori is a child-centered approach that builds self-confidence through daily work in a curriculum where kindness, empathy, and a love of learning are the foundations.
Through purposeful work and class routines, children develop independence, concentration, and a sense of order as they choose activities focused on language, sensory awareness, fine motor skills, and self-care. The children take responsibility for our classroom community as they prepare food, care for plants, and join in our daily whole-class meal.
Overflowing with curiosity and questions, a 3-6 year old's rapidly developing mind absorbs knowledge like a sponge! Using the Montessori approach, our primary program teachers guide this innate eagerness into meaningful and engaging activities that build crucial academic, practical, and social skills.

A Village Green Montessori is a rare find. It is a preschool and kindergarten that has created a well-rounded and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. The director and teachers are professional, caring, kind and gentle. My son is having so much fun learning to read, write, and learn fundamental mathmatic principles that will serve him well in the future. VGM also teaches him how to interact with others with respect. The best part is that he enjoys going to school. My older son had the same experience. I am confident that choosing VGM was the right one for our children.

Sending our son to Village Green was the best decision we ever made. Everyday he walks into a loving and kindness focused environment that ensures he learns something every day based on his ability levels.
The leaps and bounds I have seen in his language and practical life skills are truly impressive. The staff and teachers are so caring and experienced that I have never worried about my son once he's through their doors.
Our baby girl is only 10 months old and I'll be putting her on the waiting list for the tots room as soon as we can! This truly is a phenomenal school that has surpassed every

We couldn't love VGM any more. This is our daughter's first year here and she's flourishing. All the teachers, staff, director are so kind and welcoming. She's learned so much already in her short time there, and loves going to see her friends/teachers. VGM is truly a family and we couldn't be happier to be a part of it!

VGM is an amazing place where children build a sense for community and develop a love for learning. We have seen our children grow and flourish througout their 2-3 years at VGM. They have not only learned how to master many skills but they have also become self- confident, mentors, critical thinkers and more importantly kind individuals who like to help others. VGM has truly been an extension of our family! Teachers and staff bring tons of knowledge, love, hard work and passion to school each day. I will always be greatful for all the love and the impact they have made in our children’s lives

My son loved attending VGM! We were welcomed into the Village Green family four years ago. Last year, my son completed his third year and graduated from kindergarten at VGM. The education, social growth and the overall experience has been invaluable. We have made life long friends with fellow families and the staff - I'm so grateful to have found such a great preschool minutes away from my home!
