Sushi Cocoro Japanese Restaurant

I really enjoyed our visit here.

The place is not fancy, it is a typical local old school sushi joint. If you want a "scene" this isn't for you. It was not crazy busy but they do a ton of take out.

We really enjoyed the mango crunch salad. It had really tasty fresh mango. The Christmas roll was really good. We also liked the valentine roll. The nature wasn't worth the money it was slightly mushy.

The service was decent. Not really friendly but they were efficient and got everything correct.

Very friendly staff, high quality ingredients, and the Special Hero roll in particular is fantastic.

It is also very exciting that they are now on Uber Eats; however, they need to put their special rolls up on the app for selection.

After reading great reviews I decided to try Sushi Cocoro. I was really disappointed with the quality of the food. The teriyaki chicken was tasteless, with boiled vegetables that surely were frozen before. When I placed the order I asked for rolls with raw sushi, the recommended sushi was mostly cooked and did not have good presentation. Kano salad was a mess with spicy mayo and cheapest lettuce. I will stay with Sakura bana in Ridgewood that is far superior.

Really good food. Not too expressive great waiter and water. Like the music and table. Recommend the Kitsune Udon.
Worth it

I’ve been to hundreds of sushi restaurants and this is far and beyond the best one. The best rolls, the best sushi, the best sashimi, great appetizers and most of all amazing service by the owner herself :)

Sushi Cocoro is the best sushi in Bergen County hands down. The service is incredible, the fish is always fresh, and the sushi chefs are incredibly creative with their special rolls. My family and I have not had sushi from a different restaurant for years now, we swear by this wonderful place and family.

By far one of the best sushi places around! The service is fabulous; they always treat you like family! I've never had a bad meal here. All of the food is absolutely delicious and fresh.

I've lived in Bergen County for the past 20 years and Cocoro is far away the best sushi around. I drive an extra 10 minutes out of the way to get it - highly recommend the sushi deluxe.

In my opinion, this is one of the best sushi restaurants in Bergen County. Everything is super fresh, and their rolls are really creative and tasty. Moreover, especially during covid times, I think you have to support business owners who are just doing their best to survive. We have been here many times - pre and post covid - and the owners are just the sweetest people. They often offer freebies to my kids and remember our faces.

Updating this review because i am beyond impressed with how much their service has improved. Every time I place an order, it is ready by the time promised. The place itself is very clean and taking all necessary COVID precautions. Could not recommend this place enough.

Great quality fish. Good pick up service. One of the few local sushi places that is open Monday night.

I have been going here for sushi since it opened. The best sushi. I still drive home now just to go to Cocoro! The owners and staff are so friendly. They always have amazing food. They used to have the BEST fried ice cream (long gone now). Everything here is always top notch and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend.

My family and I completely LOVE this place, and anyone we have brought there (including from overseas) has been very impressed with how fresh and delicious the sushi is. The place is really cute and clean, the family who owns it and employees are very nice and very good hosts! Lunch is fantastic, great value for their specials, and all of their food overall is absolutely delicious. I have been to every "name" sushi place around, and this is still my fave. Have been bringing my kids here since infancy, they also love the food!

Solid spot if you're in the area .. friendly service and received a complimentary fried dumpling and ice cream at the end ..

CocoRo is a great stop off I287 for a delicious sushi lunch! The bento box come last with 6 pcs, Soup, salad, shrimp, rice & ice cream for $14....can't beat it!! All the rolls are made to order & the service is excellent.

I visited this place once again and the amazing Sushi taste and presentation did not disappoint! The staff was also very attentive and treated us so well. It's also not just the taste of the food, but the quality of the food served that really made us enjoy every bite. I highly recommend this establishment.

Cocoro has been around for forever, and I assume they have a loyal customer base...but now that there's 4 places in Franklin Lakes that serve sushi...I'd rather eat at any of the others. Cocoro is mediocre sushi at best. It's not terrible, but it's also not amazing either. I've tried it probably once a year for the last 3 or 4 years and it just never wows me.

It's a simple place but good sushi/sashimi, and great wasabe, and for me that's what counts.

We don't know what happened to this place. We used to order takeout and go once in awhile to eat in the restaurant. The sushi was always pretty good, and they had a crazy spicy tuna crunch roll.
Tonight, everything was terrible. The sushi was way to wide. It should be a one bite thing. Each cut piece was the size of a jar lid. When I asked how I was supposed to eat the Boston roll, which had everything in it besides the usual ingredients, the waitress brought me a knife and fork. Seriously. Nothing was good. The don buri had no sauce. The rolls were large and fell apart because they weren
