Had gone out to dinner the night before at a different place, and got 2 tasteless sandwiches, beans and slaw for over $42, and was so disappointed I didn't want to go out again. But I had plans to meet a friend for lunch, and this is where she picked. Would not have been my choice. But... I was pleasantly surprised! They had an extensive lunch menu with prices that were reasonable for the type of food. Before our meal, we got a nice salad, very fresh. Then came the meal. We went here for the first time with friends to celebrate a birthday today and our experience was, unfortunately, extremely disappointing due to the service.
We went during lunch time and the restaurant wasn't packed or busy. The food honestly was actually good, the quality of food was very good, with generous amount of seafood in our dish and everything tasted great.
The problem we had was with an extremely rude waiter. I truly understand that the occupation of a waiter may not be easy, difficult dealing with people (as is with any customer service job). But this waiter, no exaggeration, literally

Went to a company Christmas party for a very good friend of mine. Great time until the end of the night when the staff wanted us to leave our table so they could clean up before the party was even over. Not a good look at all. If you employees don’t want to work tell them to stay home and collect un employment.

I don't understand why this place has two stars and half only. The food and price is AMAZING. (We took a trip to Van Slyke Castle and saw this place on Google, it is rated 4 stars there.)
I ordered lobster and asparagus risotto and the portion and taste is above and beyond! You don't even get a lobster roll this price... the lobster is definitely fresh, and they give such a generous amount of both tail and claw meats.
I also ordered osso buocco, with rigatoni, again, I have nothing to say but praise them with their generosity and the quality of food. Pasta was cook to perfection, al

I recently had my daughters bridal shower there. The outside dining area is very pretty. The service however was terrible. There were only 2 servers for my party of 50. I had to constantly ask for more bread and mimosas. The food itself was very good but the presentation was sloppy. The waiters just threw the dishes on the table. I’ve eaten in the restaurant and it was very good. However I would never have a private party there again

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place while completing this review. I want to put 3 stars, but maybe its 4. There were a lot of great things, just too many short comings to bump up the score.

Came here for a friend's birthday and we had a great time! We were seated instantly after we checked in. The waiter was so attentive, he made sure we got our drinks fast and food. The bread was okay, maybe they can improve the bread being warm, but it was still good. The food was amazing and so fresh! My friend's got the same dish which was a customized one and I got a dish the waiter recommended. The sangria was fresh too and it was made with love! We shared a lava cake at the end which was pretty good too. I'll definitely be back to celebrate more birthdays or anything to be honest

We lived in NJ for 25 years nearby to this usually fine restaurant. COVID has taken its toll on this venerable spot. Beautiful indoor or outdoor seating on this warm summer evening. We chose indoors to suit our older friends. Small clues should have warned us. Looking out at the setting sun through dirty windows. Maybe just an oversight. Simply leaving a pitcher of water to serve ourselves . . . when entrees start at $28? Déclassé.

Update: Vincent A was contacted during the disastrous event and ignored the problems. I was told I would hear from them but never did.
I want to start off that our server and busing staff were fabulous. They did not have enough help but did an amazing job. Portobello is severely understaffed.
Hint: Bring an attorney or hire yours to attend the event - the reason is below and shocking.
However, do not use this venue for a repast. They are insensitive and understaffed. We arrived and there was no parking available, I called the welcoming desk (and I use that term loosely) to ask for help

Went there today for my mother's birthday. Worst experience in a restaurant ever. The steak was tough and fatty. Wife did not get her food right. waited over 20 minutes to get drinks and it wasnt even that busy. I ask to speak to a manager and was just told He is busy, twice by two difference employees.

Also, the owners apparently think they are above the law. An incredibly crowded event took place the day before Thanksgiving where no social distancing took place and masks were not worn. The crowd apparently fancy themselves special and above the law as well. Businesses like this that break the law in the middle of a pandemic are outwardly selfish and feel entitled. It's embarrassing and extremely dangerous.

My mom wanted to check this restaurant out for her day off so I went with my parents. Upon entering it is a very nice ambiance. Lights everywhere, seated at a beautiful table, and decorations were very elegant.
Walking in, we were seated in 5-10 minutes with a reservation. It is a bit chilly in this area so I suggest wearing a sweater especially if you're coming here for dinner.

Nice big place for outside dining, the restaurants parking lot is turned to an outside place for lunch and dinner. Our waitress, Vanessa, was great and the food was delicious as well as dessert and drinks. You need to wear you mask inside their premises but not outside, and plenty of social distance between the tables.

Although Portobello has been around for a while now, it was the first time for us based on a recommendation our friends had received. The exterior of the building is impressive as is the interior. The owner spared no expense on the outdoor set-up. It has a tropical feel which includes palm trees, fake grass, a beautiful Tiki bar, tent, etc.
