Please call us at 410-257-5798 or 301-855-8126 to speak to one of our caring veterinary staff members! Dr. Carey Goehle graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology. In 1999, he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Auburn University. Sharing a love for both large and small animals, he elected to pursue a career in small animal veterinary medicine.
We look forward to seeing you and your puppy or kitten so that we can help get him/her started on the right path to a long and healthy life. The first few months are a critical period in your pet's development, and we can give you the support and tools necessary to help him or her grow into a well-mannered, healthy pet, including information and advice on nutrition, training, behavior, and socialization.
Bringing your pet in for an annual diagnostic and wellness checkup can help reassure you that your dog or cat is healthy or help us detect hidden diseases or conditions early. Early detection can improve the prognosis of many diseases, keep medical costs down, and help your pet live longer. Many dogs and cats are good at hiding signs that something is wrong, so subtle changes in their health or behavior might be easy to overlook.
Imagine what your mouth would feel like if you never brushed your teeth or went to the dentist. For many dogs and cats, this is a painful reality. According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have dental disease by the age of 3. Dental (or periodontal) disease is the most frequently diagnosed health problem in pets.
Thank you for choosing our Boarding Facilities! Our facilities will allow your pet to be as comfortable as possible while you are away. Please feel free to contact us for a tour of our facilities at any time. Please do not assume your boarding arrangements are confirmed until we have contacted you to confirm the requested dates.

Had to find a new vet due to our long time and highly trusted vet retiring. We were a bit anxious based on previous experiences that were lack luster at other clinics in the area, however we had never used this particular clinic.
The facility was quite modern, very clean, no offensive odors (issue with a few of those others), and fantastic personnel.
The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful, the vet assistant spoke and engaged with me and my dog with such a high level of confidence and skill, I thought she was the vet right up to the point she started walking out and told me the vet

My dog is chronically ill and gets excellent care at Dunkirk Animal Hospital. His vet, Dr Ellie Scholz is professional, knowledgeable and delightful. She is kind to my dog too, which is very important to him and us! All the staff that we have met have been kind and friendly.

My beloved dog was dying. I called my regular vet and asked to have her euthanized. They said they couldn't do it and suggested I go to AAVEC in Annapolis, 30 minutes away. I didn't want her to have to ride that far. I called Dunkirk Animal Hospital and they said they would do it even though I wasn't a client there.
They were all caring and sympathetic. I even received a sympathy card from them today. Nothing from the regular vet. I doubt I'll get another pet (too painful) but if I do, I will choose them for my veterinary needs.

I recently moved to Maryland from California and didn’t have a regular veterinarian out here yet. The morning of my dog’s 10th birthday, she woke up barely able to walk, after going to bed perfectly normal. I was terrified I wouldn’t be able to get her in anywhere local, since it was a Saturday morning and knowing how backed up and understaffed vet clinics are around the entire country, and that I would have to drive a couple hours to an ER vet clinic and still wait hours to get her in. I noticed Dunkirk opened first on Saturday, called them, and they said they could squeeze us in as an emergency

Our family has been extremely happy with Dunkirk Animal Hospital and have recommended to our friends and they have switched to receive care with them as well. The vets and vet techs all are so kind! They have excellent hours and are the best priced in the county. They even gave all four of my kids goody bags and the dogs some treat bags when we came for a quick visit. I have tried vets closer to us but have had some traumatic experiences, so in every aspect Dunkirk is well worth the drive.

The Dunkirk Animal Hospital is excellent in responding to the pet and the owner needs. This even includes end of pet life needs. I greatly appreciate the professionalism shown in the height of the pandemic by the staff and doctors. There is a genuine love of animals and care seen at the hospital.

I took my dog in for an emergency. He had kennel cough and possibly early stages of pneumonia, the staff was amazing and very patient despite my boy being so aggressive. The meds prescribed took effect almost immediately. The vet was very knowledgeable and I felt very comfortable. Another staff member gave me some training tips as well. This place is extremely clean and the staff was very polite. 100/100 best animal hospital I've been to in maryland.
