In 1953, he married Joanne Gabinelli of Ansonia. It was there they made their home and raised a family. He worked for 38 years, 1956-1994, at Sikorsky Aircraft in the Engineering Fatigue Lab. In 1976 he and Joanne built their home in Oxford. Zulene would later go on to marry Tom Savage, who adopted Fred as his own son.

The Carpino Funeral Home staff helped my brother and I prepare for the loss of our father before with planning, right after with compassion, and after with frequent check-ins that never felt intrusive. They, especially Jayson, were kind, caring, compassionate, completely professional and answered all our questions in a timely manner. A wonderful experience at a time when it was most needed.

There are not enough incredible words to describe the service that our family received from Jayson and his team at Carpino Funeral Home. Jayson and his team went above and beyond to help us plan our mom's funeral service while both my sister and I live out of state. Carpinos was a blessing for my family during this difficult time. They were kind, patient and beyond helpful. The kind, sensitive way in which they handled my recent loss was so very much appreciated. The recent passing of my husband was a very difficult time and over a holiday weekend. With no advance arrangements, Jayson and Andrea were most helpful in getting things in place quickly with no issues or high pressure sales.
