Services
Baytown shares a bay with the San Jacinto monument, the famous location where General Sam Houston defeated General Santa Ana marking the end of the Texas Revolutionary War in 1836! However, Baytown has a long history stretching back thousands of years. Over 30,000 years ago the formation of the Gulf Coast began.
Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. If you take something from the geocache (or "cache"), leave something of equal or greater value.
There are 31 different geocaches on the Family, History and Nature Together GeoTour (28 regular geocaches and 3 bonus geocaches) and 3 levels of prizes that you can obtain. In order to receive the Level 3 prize of a trackable geocoin, a geocacher must find a minimum 22 out of the 31 available geocaches, unscramble the mystery phrase, and obtain an additional 8 points either through hotel stays, meals, retail, or finding additional geocaches.
This is just the beginning of our newly created Public Art scene that is filled with murals, sculptures, and more. In this Geocaching Adventure, you'll visit 9 public art locations and learn about our "love where you live" mantra that we like to show our visitors here in Baytown. Most of our art has an unique history that you'll get a chance to learn about as you explore each location.
Enticed by neon gas flowing through sculpted glass tubes and flickering lights racing along with rapidity, we're compelled to this corner along Texas Avenue. Where dusty westerns galloped into the sunset, Sci-Fi's pushed futurism, horror flicks lurked in the shadows, and classics made our hearts sing.
