In a nutshell - family history. My great-grandfather inspected and repaired steam locomotive boilers (iron horses) for the Denver & Rio Grande Western railroad. So when developing possible names I was drawn to one that meant something to me personally. A Colorado native, I am a Certified Professional Inspector and member of InterNACHI, the largest home inspector organization in the country.
While a condo inspection has its unique characteristics, I approach it as a "regular" home inspection. The structure and all components, inside and out, are inspected as a whole, whether an HOA is responsible or not. Cracked and damaged sewer and plumbing lines are expensive to repair, make sure yours is in good condition.

I pride myself on exceeding expectations. While the list below reflects our offerings, I believe the word service includes the how as well as the what. I will inspect the home as if it were my own, with diligence and objectivity. Yet, I know every home has its own "character" and don't believe in burying you with items beyond the scope of what's materially important.

This was our 4th time purchasing a house and working with John at Iron Horse was by far our best inspection experience! He went above and beyond by not only providing a very thorough inspection, but also taking the time to explain both the issues discovered as well as what we should know for home maintenance, since this will be our first time in a mountain home with well water and a septic system. John was very professional and we would definitely recommend Iron Horse Home Inspections to anyone!

Great experience with the inspection of our first home - received detailed information about all aspects of the home in a way that was easy to understand and not overly dramatic. John Phillips at Iron Horse performed the inspection for us on a property we were purchasing in the Denver area to be our new home. He did a very thorough and professional job and provided excellent communication and service throughout for a very reasonable price. The final report was very detailed with great descriptions and photographs of each issue. We were able to schedule him quickly, he was on time and he followed up with us to see if we had any questions or needed any clarification. I used John and Iron Horse Home Inspections for my recent real estate purchase and I cannot recommend his services highly enough. I joined him for the entire home inspection - he was generous with his knowledge/expertise and was patient with my questions. Luckily, there wasn't much wrong with the house, but he laid out an easy-to-follow list of "would be nice" tasks that I will reference to maintain the property. He also happens to be a very friendly, courteous individual, which made working with him that much easier.
