Our members are body-affirming, respectful, and understand that every person moves at their own pace in their journey of fitness. Instead of moving my body in order to change it or make parts of it disappear, I'm training to listen to my body's limits, learn to challenge my body in a kind way, and do things I never thought my body could do. With our small class sizes, specialized courses and regular coach check-ins included in every membership, every member develops their own path toward mindful movement.

I have been a member at Ascent for a month now, and have been incredibly grateful for the coach’s consistently thoughtful, kind, and instructive support through my first few weeks. I think I’ve had a class with every coach now, and while each has their own flavor of leading the class, the values of Ascent are clearly the foundation of their leadership.
Additionally, I’m grateful for the way I always feel well watched over and cared for. I specifically wanted a gym where I would learn proper form, and the team continues to deliver class after class. I’m so glad I finally joined.

I loved working out at Ascent while I was briefly living in Tacoma. I felt instant community as the gym really feels like a come as you are space. All the trainers are so welcoming. It’s rare to find a gym that centers queerness and fat acceptance. I worked with Tasheon who is really knowledgeable, fun, and laid back.

Love this gym! This is the first gym membership I've had where I have actually shown up consistently and that is in large part due to the inclusive and supportive atmosphere of Ascent. (You don't have to get a membership - you can buy classes individually or as a package, if that fits your needs better.) I love the fact that I don't have to plan my own workout but I'm encouraged to pay attention to my body and challenge myself (or take it a little easier!) appropriately.

Ascent is amazing! I have been attending classes for about a month and I am feeling so much stronger and excited about moving my body already. The instructors provide such good instruction and there are always multiple variations for each movement so you have options that work best for you. It is also a safe and non-judgmental space which is so much better than any other gym I have been to! For the first time in a long time I look forward to my workouts rather than dread them.

What I like most about Ascent is its commitment to inclusivity. Ascent does a fantastic job of meeting people where they are at and inviting them to explore different types of movement. I've been attending Ascent Fitness since summer 2019 and I've loved every moment of it. The trainers are down-to-earth and supportive, the environment is friendly and encouraging, and the workouts kick my butt every time.
The focus at this gym is functional fitness, so you do a variety of exercises each time you go--including crawling, get-ups, weights (and body weight exercises), lunges, etc. I also love that the trainers will give plenty of modifications as needed, as I'm limited in shoulder mobility due to an injury.

My husband and I have been going to Ascent Fitness for 2 months now and we absolutely love it! The coaches are knowledgeable, supportive, and provide 1:1 coaching in a group setting including modifications for all skill levels.
The coaches teach you various exercises to improve strength and movement in a clean and comfortable environment. The classes include new and fun activities each day pushing you to strive towards a better you!
I always feel a high rate of exertion with improved endurance and strength week after week. I leave Ascent Fitness after each workout with a feeling of accomplishment

I've been working out at Ascent Fitness for a couple of months now, and it is always something I look forward to throughout the week. As someone with almost no guided workout experience and a long way to go to get physically fit I was extremely nervous to get started, but that feeling faded immediately after my first visit.
There is a real focus on community and positivity at this gym, and Marissa is a wonderful coach. She will consistently push you to challenge what you think your body is capable of, and will be genuinely excited for you when you accomplish something new.

Marissa started training me about 4-5 months ago and it's been a huge success. Due to my hectic work schedule and limited free time, she personalized my workouts in order for me to do the majority of them in the comfort of my own home. (20-25 minutes, 5x a week) Something I greatly appreciated was that in the beginning she slowly worked up to 25 min workouts and only a couple times a week. Had she started me at 100% I probably would have given up right away... Marissa customizes/tweaks the workouts weekly to work on the areas of my body that need the most improvement and does benchmark testing
