We founded our center on standards of strong curriculum, low teacher-student ratios and a safe environment for learning. We believe in active minds working in a healthy environment. That school continues to grow and thrive with Infant and Toddler programs, as well as Pre-K programs. We strive to meet the child care needs of parents and their children in Forsyth County, GA.
Our philosophy at Akers Academy is to engage Active Minds in a healthy learning environment. The need to successfully manage, contribute, grow and learn from life is dependent on a child's mind being constantly engaged in learning. It is this engagement which stimulates physical, social and intellectual growth which are the building blocks of self-esteem and a healthy and happy beginning.
A comprehensive curriculum called "Active Minds" is taught at Akers Academy that combines literacy skills, mathematics, language development and critical thinking in combination with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) learning. STEAM focuses on incorporating multiple learning areas through hands on discovery, encouraging creativity and problem solving strategies.
Akers Academy is located on Old Alpharetta Road in Alpharetta, Georgia which is quickly becoming known as an incredible place to raise a family. Located north of Atlanta off of Georgia 400 makes Akers Academy conveniently placed around the corner from such business destinations such as the Meadows on Mcfarland, Windward Parkway and the Johns Creek planned community.
Akers Academy is located in the City of Cumming and off state route 20 (Canton Hwy) about 1 mile west (going toward Canton) of the Cumming town square behind Crescent Bank and Slopes BarB Que. We love Akers! My daughter is enrolled in the private pre-K with Ms. Elsje and everyday she loves going to school to spend time with her friends and learn. The curriculum being used I have seen tremendous growth in her letter recognition, writing. Coloring, and social skills. I highly recommend checking out Akers and the private pre-k program.

We have been going to Akers Academy since 2009 when my oldest daughter was born. The Director Leena Mitchel is amazing. She goes above and beyond to help things work out. She has an approach to child care that just makes sense. There is no corporate line to say no I can't do that. She works with kids and parents to do what is rational and what works not what some handbook says. I am super blessed to have found the second home that my girls have at Akers Academy! Thank You Leena!

We enrolled our daughter in the Alphatetta campus over a year ago after being recommended from a past parent there and WE LOVE IT! My daughter is thriving, happy and learning. The teachers and staff there are PHENOMENAL! They are quick to answer any and all questions and concerns that you may have, and are on top of sharing reminders and information with you. I also enjoy the extracurricular activities offered there for the students (my daughter's favorite is dance). We look forward to another great year at Akers Academy! I recommend them highly!

Thought I would update my review here since it has been a few more years. We have continued to attend Akers with our next two children. We have been a part of the Akers family for the past 11 years. Everyday I count my blessings to have a place that feels like home for my children. They learn something new everyday, and come home with their sense of wonder and curiosity heightened. Their love of learning is evident, and that is heavily based on the success of the teachers! Our family couldn’t be happier with our decision to be an active part of the Akers family.

We love Akers Academy! The staff is friendly and very helpful and the teachers are great. We've had one child go from infant room through Private Pre-K and another who is still there. They send daily updates on what the class is learning and will send pictures. My oldest still goes there for after school program and when public schools are closed during summer and breaks. Fantastic place that I highly recommend.

Akers Academy has been like an extension of my home for my 2 youngest children. We started with their Pre-K and then enrolled my youngest at age 2 for their childcare. They have always felt like a family environment that takes great care with my children. My middle has moved on to public school but my youngest is now in their private Pre-K and we are loving it! I cannot thank Akers enough for providing a safe environment that gives me the peace of mind that my daughter is safe and cared for when she is not with me. We will miss this school when my daughter graduates. I would recommend it to anyone

BEWARE!! This is the worst preschool we have ever experienced! You would be better off enrolling your child in doggy daycare than in this redneck kid storage facility. Our child was exceeding at his prior school and never had any disciplinary issues. We decided to switch to Akers for the State sponsored pre-k program and lower monthly cost in comparison to places like Goddard and Primrose. Our child has been at Akers for 5 months now and is displaying so many new behavioral issues we can't keep track. On top of that the teachers are picking at the child by writing him up daily for things

Our infant daughter just started attending Akers Academy a couple of months ago once a week when my wife has to attend classes. We did not need to use a day care for our older kids at this age and weren't sure what to expect. Leena was great in helping us feel comfortable with the decision and our daughter has been doing great when she goes. They take great care of her and the facility is awesome. The baby room has a no shoe policy for cleanliness for the infants. It's not part of our regular schedule, but Aker's is a huge blessing to have available when we need part time care for her.

A really great program for infants through pre-k.
The teachers are very loving and truly committed to providing a great experience for each child to learn and grow. You can tell how much the children learn just by looking at the classrooms. They are all full of colorful art work, pictures and activities that the children participate in. A true Quality program, that is more hands-on than some of the corporate programs in the area.

They were wonderful at first. Awesome staff and really wonderful teachers. Mr. Frank is a wonderful man as well!! As time went by, the teachers got worse. We had a teacher send home a note regarding my son stating that he needed to be "more better" in art!! Seriously!!!! Then, my son stated that kids had urinated on his jacket but the staff ASURED ME that this event never happened because they would have been made aware of such a disgusting event. Which almost made me call my son a liar!!! I proceeded to place this jacket on my son!! Later on that same week I received an apology letter

I can't adequately put into words how wonderful Akers Academy is and has been throughout our seven years here. All the teachers and staff are exceptionally kind and passionate about their profession. Our daughters have been coming here since infancy- each teacher they have had has loved them as though they were their own. Our daughters have been challenged, encouraged, motivated and inspired- and they adore their teachers. Akers Academy is like family and we will be forever grateful for the time we spent with these genuine, caring people.

I have two beautiful daughters. They started going to Akers when my youngest at 2 months and my oldest at 17 months. Akers Academy has such welcoming and friendly environment and I am very grateful that I was able to let my children attend there. They provide you with daily activity report and pictures which made me feel like I was there with my girls. Overall Akers Academy is a great place for kids to
