From a young age, Dr. Michael always aspired to become a veterinarian. She attended Colgate University where she graduated with a degree in biology. As an undergraduate, Dr. Michael externed at the National Institutes of Health non-human primate facility where she provided veterinary care and obtained research data on various species of monkeys.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000, Dr. Michael moved to Connecticut where she worked in both general day practice and 24 hour emergency referral hospitals. Dr. Michael looks forward to continuing the mission Dr. Brooks started by providing excellent patient care to the families and pets of the Powder Ridge Veterinary Hospital.

Services
At Powder Ridge Veterinary Hospital, we provide the full spectrum of pet care. Stop by for a stress free visit with your pet. Annual wellness checkups can include teeth cleaning, diagnostic radiology and ultrasound, and a visit to our full service store. We stock prescription drugs and prescription diets, which you can pick up when you visit or sign up to order online.
A wellness exam is an overall general health assessment of each patient and is performed at least every 12 months. These examinations are very important to maintaining your pet's overall health and helps us get to know your pet and what is normal for them. In addition to the physical examination, our trained staff will review and update recommended vaccinations and preventatives, provide dietary guidance and discuss any other health concerns.
At Powder Ridge, we understand that anesthesia and surgery can evoke a very emotional response in a pet parent's heart While anesthesia unfortunately carries a small risk, we do everything possible to ensure the safety of your pet during a surgical procedure. We start with a thorough pre-operative physical examination and bloodwork to ensure that no pre-existing conditions are present.
During business hours, Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm, we provide sick and emergency care to your pets. Since we are not open 24 hours, serious emergencies or pets requiring overnight care will be referred to one of the local emergency hospitals. We partner closely with these facilities to ensure your companion receives exceptional, continuous care.
During your companion's annual physical, our team will assess your pet for dental (periodontal) disease. Dental disease is one of the most common medical conditions we see and occurs when the accumulation of plaque and tartar results in gum recession and/or infection of the gums, tooth socket and occasionally surrounding bone.

The best vet I’ve ever been too. They do not force you to pay for anything you don’t want. They explain everything to you and answer any questions you have. Very easy and painless experience. They treated Chico like he was there own and made sure he was Comfortable and ok the whole time. Powder Ridge will be the only vet I ever use from this day forward.

Curbside Service.. with numbered stalls and informative signs.
Techs are true animal lovers. Quick and Caring service. Due to COVID-19 precautions I cannot comment on Dr because I have never met him/her.
Suggestions.. implementing a payment system that involves a method to bring to vehicles... just considering identity/banking safety.
