Very nice hair salon. The ladies are really kind and willing to give advice depending on your kind of hair. got a perm, very quick but careful and detailed process. Recommend!

I had a really great time at the salon! It was my first time dying my hair so i was a bit nervous. They made me feel very comfortable. It seemed like everyone in the store had a hand in doing the work. Which they did! All the workers were invested in me looking great! They did such a great job and made me feel so good. I had an appointment for 3 and they had me in a chair ASAP. I cant recommend them enough!

Came to the salon originally to get a digital perm but the owner kindly explained why I shouldn’t get the digital perm yet. My hair was very damaged from previous treatments I’ve had (highlights, japanese straight, repeated colors). I like that she was very honest and didn’t just do the procedure to make money. I got a haircut anyway which turned out nice! The owner and the whole staff is very nice. This would definitely be my go-to salon from now on.

I just had a wonderful and memorable experience at KSY. As an asian male looking to get a middle part perm, I wanted to try a Korean salon. Despite not speaking Korean, the staff was very communicative and friendly. My appointment started promptly at the time I had called for. When I started explaining what I wanted, my stylist Rachel immediately understood and quickly got to work. Everything was very smooth and professional. I love coming to Kim Sun Young because even with my odd request to bleach only half my head, they did such an amazing job! The owner made sure I was aware that the purple/pink would fade within 3 weeks, maybe longer, and told me to come back if it does. She treated my hair with the utmost care, oversaw each step, and applied treatment products that made my hair silky smooth.
I also can’t ever complain about the workers because everyone at this salon is so friendly and it’s clear to see that they love what they do. I will definitely come back for my next hair appointment! Thank you!

My experience at Kim Sun Young was very nice!

I'm always nervous going to a new place for a haircut as I've had disaster haircuts in the past. I found this place while looking for hair salons in the Pal Park area because there were a lot of them. I called up to ask a price for a women's hair cut with wash & blow dry and the woman on the phone advised it was $45. I made my appointment and it was pretty much an straightforward process.

I usually come here for a haircut but today was my first time to have my hair colored in this salon. I showed them a photo of the color I wanted, and I’m surprised it turned out really well! My hair used to be very dry and damaged, but after using their products, my hair looked very healthy. Honestly very impressed. I will definitely come back for a root touch up!

Today was the first day of doing hair perm from this Salon. I do wanna say it was a "phenomenal." I encourage people to get this service that I got today from this Salon. Amazing customer service!!! The owner and staff are super friendly and professional and go above and beyond to make sure their customers are satisfied with their results. The owner did my haircut and color and spent a lot of time explaining what she was doing and clearly was very knowledgeable with color. Her cutting skills are also fantastic! I've been to a lot of fancy salons in nyc that aren't justified for the price but here the prices are very reasonable and the attention and service to the customers is the best I've had!

I had my hair coloured blue and it didn't exactly turn out the way I wanted to. The attention to detail and service was amazing though. However, I was unhappy with the result and ended up going back. The owner personally attended to doing my hair and was meticulous with the process, explaining to me what it was going to look like afterwards and what to expect when I asked questions. The service is always excellent and Covid precautions are taken very seriously at this salon. Every single time I had to move chairs (which was quite often), they disinfected my chair and the chair I was headed

I take my whole family (3 boys & hubby) and also myself for haircuts here. We live an hour away but every month, we make a long trip to Pal Park for haircuts for everyone since my middle boy was 1 month old so it's been about 5 years. They are that good! They are always so friendly and patient with my boys. It's not easy trying to cut a screaming, kicking 2 yr old's hair but they do it really well. Even with our crazy schedule, I will not go anywhere else closer to our house.

This is my favorite place to get my hair done. Friendly staffs and owner. They know exactly what they are doing. Reasonable price and great service. Sophia did an excellent job with my hair. She was super kind and patient and she took her time and was gentle with my hair. Also she made me feel very relaxed and was very fun and engaging to talk to throughout my appointment. She even gave me a complementary hair steaming treatment. Definitely will make another appointment with her soon

On my aunt's recommendation, I got magic straight perm done here and the service was great. But for what I paid, I expected the service to be of high quality. I was there for about 4 hours. Somewhat satisfied of the way my hair came out. The owner told me not to wash my hair for 2 days because the perm chemicals needed to set. So I waited 3 days. The morning I took a shower, I was so upset at how it looked after washing my hair. It was as if I had never gotten the magic perm. Actually, it was worse, as the chemicals dried out my hair. The cut was uneven on both sides. I will never go back

I am at an extreme loss for words for how HORRIBLE my hair has turned out after a 1) color job 2) digital perm 3) hair cut and 4) keratin treatment.

Before anyone started, I had asked to look through their hairstyle look book and found one of Mika Kunis with a Bardot style hairstyle. The owner was handling my hair today since (unbeknownst to me till AFTER my hair was done) the salon did a horrible job PREVIOUSLY with my sister-in-law's perm (apparently the owner threw her employee under the bus by saying that it wouldn't have been bad had she had done the job herself). I have been coming to the owner of Kim Sun Young salon for about 15 years. Not only do I get the best result, but my hair is more healthy. No other salons tries so hard to minimize damage magic perm and hair dye that I can't live without. She is always learning. If you can, avoid weekends! It gets too busy.

This place is really bad for men hair cut. Charged $30 dollar for hair cut that is only worth not more than $10. Stylist is rushing and don't pay attention to detail. Uneven sides and don't listen to customer instruction well. Won't come back

First timer and last...
On a Sunday, went in as awalk-in and they told me they're booked. Next day i made an appointment for 2 for 3:30 and they said no problem. I get there at 3:20 a little bit early and guess what they do to me. Wife started with the was and i was supposed to be next after this other person was done. While waiting, another usual customer of theirs walks in and says i was stopping by after golf to get a perm or dye. The owner which i was waiting on says oh no prob sit down. 35minutes pass by and another guy comes in and straight to the wash....hmmm

So, I roamed around the streets of Palisades Park to see if there were any salons but the few I passed were dead. No customers.

Sophia the hair stylist is a talent!

I've always been hesitant when going in for trims. Typically, the stylist always cuts much shorter than I want her to, or it doesn't turn out the way I want it to. I think Sophia may be the first stylist who actually LISTENS to my requests. She ALWAYS cuts to the length I want; when I tell her that I want to thin out my hair and not lose any length, she does JUST that. I have never had a stylist like her. Really great to work with. I have never had a dissatisfied experience with her. The cut is always great, and the styling afterwards is magnificent
