Services
La Fonda on the Plaza is regarded as the top choice in Santa Fe luxury hotels. We provide guests with an authentic New Mexican experience complemented by 4-Diamond distinctive services. Offering a wealth of premier amenities, La Fonda is the only Santa Fe hotel situated on the historic Plaza, sitting on a coveted location that is said to have hosted an inn since the 1600's.
La Fonda on the Plaza holds a coveted place in Santa Fe history, a component in a rich tapestry of hospitality that predates American independence. City records indicate that La Fonda sits on the site of the town's first inn, established when the city was founded by Spaniards in 1607, making our property the oldest hotel corner in America.
We have enhanced our already vigorous cleaning standards to provide complete peace of mind when you stay at La Fonda. We promise to deliver the professional, friendly service you'd expect during your stay, but with the added confidence of elevated hygiene practices to keep you safe. Our housekeeping protocol begins with removing any waste and used items, such as bedding and towels.
Upon guest checkout each guest room is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized by a staff member wearing sterile gloves and a face mask. Rugs, drapes, furniture and surfaces are sprayed/wiped with an antibacterial sanitizing product. Public areas are aggressively attended by our housemen wearing sterile gloves and surfaces are sprayed with disinfectant and wiped down hourly.
The wholly owned art collection of La Fonda on the Plaza began at the hotel's inception, and has grown considerably over the years. Paintings by the best Pueblo artists were acquired in the early years and Sam and Ethel Ballen carried on that tradition followed by Jenny Kimball, all supporting Santa Fe's famed Indian Market and acquiring work by Native Americans and other artists for the hotel.

La Fonda is our go to in Santa Fe. The most magical place to be in Santa Fe during the holidays.
In the heart of downtown. You step out to shops, the cathedral, and the main plaza. Which is decorated for the holidays with lights! The food and rooms at La Fonda are true to the culture here in Santa Fe.

Literally not a better location in downtown Santa Fe.
Everything is withing walking distance and there's a handful of cool shops actually in the hotel.
Very cool decor and the rooms are filled with authentic local relics and pillows, blankets, etc.
Dog-friendly for a fee but they'll give you a gift bag and make a donation to local dog charities, so I'm very cool with that.
Pricey, but what isn't in Santa Fe. Worth the experience for sure.
PS - The hallways are a frickin maze. When unloading your bags, go light on the first trip up - you might be wandering for awhile.

I have been coming to Santa Fe on business for more than twenty years. I always stay at La Fonda because it is within walking distance from most of the people I need to see. It's especially nice now with the holiday lights on the plaza.
Until recently the bar in the lobby was wide open. There was music and dancing and you could walk in and sit anyplace you wanted. It was friendly and informal. Now there is a wall around the bar and guards at the gate.
During a recent stay, I had an hour to kill before an evening meeting. I went to the bar to get a drink and an appetizer. Except for half

My family and I start our Santa Fe mini vacations around reservations here. They have the best Margaritas and the Chef always has something on the menu everyone will enjoy. Last night was filet and enchiladas, and the tortilla soup...it was so good...we may need another mini vacation sooner rather than later.
For those environment driven, think high vaulted ceiling's with twinkle lights, a water fountain, traditional New Mexico tile and furniture.

Great choice for accommodations in the heart on Santa Fe. Right on the plaza. Walkable distance to shopping, dining, etc. The staff (particularly the bellman) were so friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean (due to Covid protocols, you must request maid service). Lots of charm in the lobby area.

Was pleased to see a solid albeit small lounge menu. Caesar salad, burger and Margarita ($11, 18, 12) proved tasty and satisfying. The dining room
Has a larger menu (see photo) and the same prices and gracious service. The quiet lobby, friendly staff and quality SW shops make the LaFonda my favorite place in Santa Fe.

Good luck is all I can say! One star is my rating because there is nothing lower. My friend was celebrating her 60th birthday and made reservations for 3 rooms thru a 3rd party booking site for last weekend. The reservation was made in APRIL and confirmed on Monday prior to the weekend. So when we arrived the reservation had mysteriously disappeared. The hotel was of course completely booked but we were offered rooms for only Friday night at a considerably higher rate and would be required to find rooms elsewhere for the next night. Our only recourse was to find last minute lodging at another hotel

Great location, however it was all downhill from there.
We travel quite extensively and looked forward to our stay based on the many positive reviews and the history of the hotel. We called ahead to ask about early checkin and were told that our room was empty and there would be no problem. Upon arrival, there was no room available. During our stay, when we would call various desks (front desk, restaurant, concierge) the phone would ring with no answer, so we would walk down to ask our questions. Overall, we found the front desk staff and hosts/hostesses to be unhelpful and unfriendly. On

Our first night on vacation and we were looking for a place to eat and this looked good, so we took a shot and tried it.
We all enjoyed our food, the margaritas were excellent and Francisco was the best server, attentive, answered questions, came to our table to ensure everything was going smoothly and even took a picture of us.
We all enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere are would recommend it, especially if Francisco is your server and you drink margaritas.

I've been to Santa Fe a couple of times in the past but stayed with friends. We walked through La Fonda and took photos of its beautiful interior. Now, 15 to 20 years later, my husband and I were able to spend four nights here. Our "Bubble Couple" also got a room here for four nights.
Customer service is top-notch, almost universally. From the Front Desk personnel which accommodated an early check-in; to the Bellmen (shout out to Diego!) and parking Valets; to Housekeeping; to the Concierge (Helen worked a couple of miracles); to the wait staff at La Plazuela, we were impressed

I have to thank the Santa Fe Hilton for sending me here. I'd booked with them and after seeing some reviews that concerned me, I called the hotel to get a sense of what was going on. They put me on hold and left the line open, and I heard multiple guests complaining about how terrible things were at the property - it was an easy decision to cancel and take my chances with an independent hotel I knew nothing about. Next thing you know, I am loving my time at La Fonda!
La Fonda is a 4.5 rating for me that I will happily round up to 5 stars all things considered. The area I might ding is the

Both the hotel and restaurant get 5 stars.
Had breakfast at the hotel. Really good everything and felt unique -- anything with their ham steak, pancakes, or trout would be suggested by me.
Foe hotel: Really liked the whole place and the rooms were unique and felt good. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night.

Great.
Note for future self: don't bring my children or my dog.
Excellent margarita. For $16 I had high expectations. I thoroughly enjoy good tequila, my experience in all passed margaritas always were negative. They've been too sweet.
So while I awaited the waiter to return with my wife's and my drink I became concerned that this was going to possibly be a let down.
Although it was served in a more typical looking tumbler, not the spittoon looking bowl with a stem and wide base, I next became wary. Seeing the salted rim suggested my thoughts about why salt and limes historically

Elegant, classy, and fancy. This place doesn't seem like much on the outside. You walk in and the halls are grand, immaculate, and very upscale. They have a lot of art from paintings to even small art installations in cabinets advertising local businesses. The hotel is very spacious.

The cool thing is even if your not staying at the hotel you can park in the parking garage. Their current rate is at $2.50/ hr. Considering how relatively close they are to the Plaza that&apos

Well.... um... so hard! No service provided to your room your entire stay - so make your bed and reuse your towel. I'm kind of needy (really my friends are but I'm the spokesperson for our group) so every morning I had to track down house keeping for whatever it was we ran out of - coffee, coffee cups, clean towel, toilet paper, clean sheet (sadly I had a bloody nose at one point) and to give them the full trash canes to empty.
The hotel is quiet and clean and almost lifeless, made me sad to think about how many people were not working do to reduced services. BUT the staff is friendly

Are you filthy rich and in need of a cocktail to ease the stress and strains of everyday life on the Plaza? This Hotel restaurant and bar (plus hoity toity shops) will tickle your fancy. Conveniently located on The Plaza, Chauffeur will not need to drive!!
I had a couple of hot toddies and some nice convo with The Rich And Famous. $30.00, I escaped before reaching the limit on my credit card.
