It is important to establish an ongoing program to maintain the improvements achieved during active treatment. Find out more. Services
We will need current x-rays in order to do a comprehensive periodontal exam. If your referring dentist has taken x-rays, you may request that they be forwarded to us. We can also call your dental office prior to your initial visit to have x-rays transferred to our office. Since all patients are different, Dr. Berwald must complete your examination before establishing your treatment plan and corresponding fee for care.
Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.
Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure that increases the length of a tooth's crown. It is required when a tooth is fractured or has a carious lesion below the gum line. It is done prior to crown fabrication so that the general dentist can access sound tooth structure. The procedure involves adjusting the gum and bone tissue around the tooth to a physiologic healthy relationship.
Cosmetic periodontal procedures are used to regain an esthetic tooth-gum relationship. These treatments address esthetic concerns that patients have when they smile and their teeth/gums are exposed. Gingival recession is the change of gum positioning exposing part of the tooth's root. When this occurs the tooth can become sensitive to hot, cold, sweets or acid.
Periodontal disease is a chronic condition like diabetes. It is important to establish an ongoing program to maintain the improvements achieved during active treatment. Periodontal maintenance treatment intervals are best determined by your periodontist, and can range from 2-6 times per year. For patients with a significant amount of periodontal disease, the ADA, AAP and our office recommend visits every 3 months.
