Services
Chad Houfek is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of South Carolina, and is nationally certified by the NCCAOM as a Diplomat of Chinese Herbal Medicine. After graduating from the College of Charleston, he earned his Masters of Science degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2009 from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado.
Community Acupuncture is how we treat the majority of our clients because it addresses almost every health issue. Treatments use meridian theory and distal acupuncture so needles are mostly inserted into the extremities plus the ears. Treatment is held within a group setting in comfortable recliners, located within a dimly lit room, as ambient music plays in the background.
Acupuncture stimulates these systems via the insertion of thin, sterile, disposable needles into "points" along connected networks of pathways called meridians. These meridians are pathways that associate with the different body systems, especially the vascular and nervous systems which connect and communicate with the rest of the body.
When acupuncture isn't enough, Charleston Community Acupuncture recommends our custom herbal medicine. This is a safe and natural alternative to commonly over prescribed pharmaceuticals including antibiotics and minimizes undesired side effects. For those patients who seek a comprehensive treatment, Charleston Community Acupuncture recommends combining Acupuncture with Herbal Medicine.
Quietly remove your shoes and socks and along with your bag or purse place them in the basket near you. If the experience, at any time is uncomfortable, simply make eye contact with your acupuncturist who will assist in maximizing your comfort in order for you to have deep relaxation and rest.

In the reception area, collect your New Patient Treatment Plan, pick up your herbs (if applicable) and pay at the front desk (remember that initial consultations add $40 to the total).Sometimes, unpleasant symptoms may worsen for 24-48 hours before they get better. This does not mean that the acupuncture did not work, but rather that your body is working hard to realign itself to its natural state.

I’ve had 3 sessions here so far with Chad to work on a pinched nerve causing problems in my shoulder and arm. The electric stimulation acupuncture has changed my life and provided me pain relief for the first time in 10 months. My trap muscle feels soft and normal again. Highly recommend

I found Chad and Nilsa 4 weeks ago. I had been in significant pain with lumbar scoliosis and issues above and below my L3 for 14 months when I connected with CCA. For the first time in 14 months I am seeing reduced pain and well-being. I am truly thankful for what they have done for me to this point and look forward to continued treatment.
I cannot thank them enough for the progress I have seen to this point!

Hi Chad,
I am so grateful for your help. You got me from barely able to walk into an upright human person again and started me on my path to healing. You are my HERO.
Those of you reading this, I mean that! I was 99% bedridden and felt I was at deaths door at 75 lbs. Because of Chad I am now walking 1 - 2 hours a day with my dogs and 107 lbs as of today. I am thinking about a future again. At 55 I should see one and Chad made it so.
Thanks for saving my life and caring!
Thanks,
Conny

Chad is awesome. I can come there worried or upset about something. In an hour with combined acupuncture and meditation, I leave completely mellowed out. Thanks God there is a place I can go for homeopathic care and afford on a limited budget, sliding scale basis. These folks provide a rare community service. I am so pleased to find them in Charleston...and the results are irrefutable. I love this place!

Excellent treatment! Sliding scale, affordable, and both acupuncturists are exceptional. I've stopped going to chiropractors and now go to Charleston Community Acupuncture for back and shoulder pain with way more relief. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Nilsa and Chad will take care of you and dissolve any fear you have of acupuncture needles (so tiny, & don't feel remotely like what you would expect) For Community Acupuncture you relax in cozy recliners; the acupuncturist put the needles in, check up on you, and you can relax (or sleep) as long as you want. Orthopaedic Acupuncture is more private

Very professional and very effective! I've been seeing them for over a year now and am so happy I decided to try it. I originally went in for pain relief from a pinched nerve. I go now for other pain issues and to keep my chi flowing as it should. Nilsa & Chad are wonderful acupuncturists and I am grateful they provide their services at a cost I can afford.
