With 38 years of experience, Valorie's creativity with both hair color and design has won her numerous awards along with many loyal clients. Her skills have been apparent since she began her career, having become the youngest instructor of the largest academy of cosmetology in the nation at the young age of 19.
When Doug and Valorie first opened the salon, his plan was to just be a business partner, not a hair stylist. As time went on, however, Doug got the bug to be more than just an administrator. It all started one night after work when Valorie and Doug were closing the salon and Valorie asked Doug if he would be comfortable enough with the tricky hoses on the shampoo bowl to wash her hair.

Doug and Valarie made this by far the best experience I’ve had at any haircutter/salon, hands down. I showed up with a basic idea. Doug worked with my hair and said 🤔 what about this? I said sure! He styled my hair in a way I’ve never seen and I love it. You can tell he has a great pride for what he does. Doug and Valarie catered to me with cold drinks and great conversation. Got my first post-quarantine haircut here. Doug was awesome and the haircut was just as good as the place I was going in SF that costs 50% more. Easy to schedule online and they have pretty rigorous sanitation procedures. All the other reviews here are by women and I know some guys feel weird about getting a haircut at a "salon" vs a barber shop, but if you're a dude looking for a great haircut in the area definitely go here!

Awesome spot! Doug and his wife are both super sweet and clearly know what they are doing. Val was able to squeeze me in on a cancellation just in time to cut my mop before an important job interview. Doug did a great job, and gave me options throughout the process. They both seem to really care about their customers. I felt relaxed and comfortable the entire time. I'll be back for sure. Thanks, both of you. (Fingers crossed on that interview - if I land it, it's def because of the haircut! )

Except in last minute hair cut emergencies (a job interview or something) I've only trusted Valorie to cut or highlight my hair for the last...5 years? Maybe longer. I live 3.5 hours away but I still hold off for my visits to Tahoe to schedule an appointment at V'z.

This salon is the very best I've found in the Lake Tahoe area. Besides the amazing full line of hair and skin care products for both women and men, Valorie and Doug are true professionals. From a new hair style, to expert color you won't find a better salon. My experience over the past three years has been nothing short of consistent exemplary service, relaxing atmosphere, and state of the art education in hair and skin treatments. I started seeing Val early in the summer of 2018. On my first appointment she colored my hair. I was due for root color. She expertly matched her products to the products that are used at the salon I go to in Southern CA. The next time I visted I received color again and also a cut.
I have very fine, straight hair that I believe many stylists find challenging to cut. Val had no trouble accomplishing the cut I was hoping for.

FYI ignore the blones beware review because Im blonde and the products the used on my hair before my haircut didn't have any negative affects only wonderful wonderful results, making my hair silky smooth (which is difficult to do with my hair). All gold stars for this salon. If you want the total salon feeling, this is the one. I have been coming to V'z for years, and I will only have Valorie cut my hair. She is so patient when she cuts my hair, and the cut is perfect. So perfect, the cut stays in shape for months.
Doug is also great! I can always count on my root touch up to be perfectly done. Doug is also great at facials and waxing eyebrows.

I have been getting my hair done with Valorie for quite a few years and I have always been very happy with the results. I am trying to grow out my hair and she is always very good about not cutting too much off. But, I would have to say that coloring is her strong point. What a gem of a find! A girlfriend and I were in Tahoe for this past NYE weekend and we were desperate for a manicure (me) and pedicure (her). From the moment the phone was answered to the time we walked out the door the experience was amazing!

Love this place. Wanted to write another review since Yelp! has a mysterious way of removing reviews for businesses that don't subscribe...seems counter to the mantra of what Yelp! is all about.

My hair is naturally black but is currently champagne blond. I had a wedding to go to 5 days after my hair appointment so I went to my regular stylist (who originally gave me my beautiful blond the first time around) just to get a ROOT TOUCH UP. After bleaching my roots and toning MY WHOLE HEAD OF HAIR 3 times for whatever reason, I left 3 hours later with ashy-brown grayish hair and yellow-golden roots. I left the salon as quickly as I could (without paying, needless to say) and went on a search for a salon where the stylists actually knew what they were doing

V'z Image Optionz is amazing!!! I don't know if I've met a group of people so passionate and so good at what they do. Valorie and her staff spent hours with me figuring what the best look for me would be and helped me gain the confidence to get out of the box I'd been living in. I walked into church the morning after spending the day with Valorie sporting a new haircut, new low lights, and a new attitude! I felt like a different person, in fact a few people didn't recognize me! The makeover they gave me not only perked up my hair and face, it brought life back to me

Blonds beware!!! Really cute place. Love the decoration. The first time I had my hair done here the style and cut were awesome.My boyfriend was impressed. The second time my color was pretty mediocre- getting a natural looking blond is apparently not their speciality - even after a toner it still had a lot of yellow undertones. The chemical line they use smelled so awful that even after a wash and condition I was still getting sick from the smell the next day and my scalp felt really irritated. They are very nice, but inconsistent, and they charge a little more then most of the places in town
