I have 6+ years of experience as a counselor. I began my career working with homeless Veterans, moved to working with adults with acute medical illnesses and now serve individuals suffering from anxiety or depression, Many of them also dealing with co-current medical problems. I also have 5+ years of experience working with individuals who are dealing with suicidal thoughts or have attempted.
All therapy sessions are guided by the client's wants and needs. Together we create a treatment plan based on your personal goals and I assist you and reaching them. It is completely about you and what changes will create the life you want. This means you create your goals for treatment and I just help you reach them.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT is a short-term, problem-focused form of behavioral treatment that helps people see the difference between beliefs, thoughts and feelings, and free them from unhelpful patterns of behavior. CBT is grounded in the belief that it is a person's perception of events - rather than the events themselves - that determines how he or she will feel and act in response.
