This company engages in false advertising, utilizing a deceptive marketing practice. They send bulk, non-addressed mailers to "LOCAL CUSTOMER", stating "[We] will be doing tree work in your neighborhood in the next week or so." They don't even know to whom or where they are sending it, simply bulk batching fliers and throwing them at the USPS. How would they actually know they will be nearby?
Additionally, just like I would not hire an electrician from the next state over to drive a long ways to my house for service (and subsequently charge me for the time and the miles), I wouldn't hire a tree

We had a 3ft In diameter and almost 60ft tall Tulip Poplar that was barely 2 feet from our house and only another few feet from the property line. We’ve wanted to take it down for years and finally decided to pull the trigger when Chris from Southern Star came out. He took the time to meet with us and our neighbors to go over the entire tree removal process including how we would get 60k+ pounds of wood out of a tight intown lot, and was quick to respond to all of our (many!) follow up questions and calm everyone’s nerves. I received a very polite call from Bart @ Southern Star this morning about the review I left this weekend. He apologized and was looking for a way to make it right. We agreed that the next time I needed a tree service I would use them and they would give a discount. We won't need anything for about a year so we'll see. I agreed in the mean time to up my review from 1 to 3 stars and if they really follow through I'll make it 5. It was good of them to respond which speaks highly of the company.

We were very happy with the service we received from Southern Star. We have a line of trees in our backyard that were starting to grow over our deck. Southern Star cut 2 down and trimmed branches from several. At the end of the job it was exactly as we had envisioned. From the time we called them to the time the job was finished which included clean up was a little more than 48 hours. We will definitely use them again for any future jobs. We also would not hesitate to recommend them.

Southern Star was excellent. I had Chris come and give me a quote to trim several very large oaks. He was professional and not pushy at all. He gave us lots of information and options. The crew that performed the work was friendly, professional, and good communicators. They did exactly what we wanted, and the results were even better than expected. The crew cleaned up when they were done, and our yard/driveway/deck was even cleaner than when they showed up. I will certainly use them for any future tree needs.

These guys did an amazing job on a very challenging job. We had enormous pines right next to the house, sandwiched between our deck stairs. They climbed up, zip lined the branches down and landed the trunk with not a scratch to the property. They did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. They were professional and efficient. Also very reasonable in price. Would highly recommend them.
