Vietnam has one of the highest rates of disability in the world, with nearly 7 million disabled among its population of 90 million. As children, many receive no education or therapy, and are physically restrained throughout the day to keep them from harm. CCV's professional staff provides daily special education, treatment, and activities to maximize our children's development and independence.
Numerous studies have found that children raised in orphanages are prone to severe emotional and intellectual delays and pathologies. CCV's educational enrichment program provides a full day of preschool activities to toddlers, and after-school tutoring to elementary school children, who live in institutional settings.

Services
CCV's team of special education teachers and therapists work with special-needs children who otherwise would receive no schooling or rehabilitative care. For each child we serve, CCV completes a thorough developmental assessment and an Individual Education Plan in four areas-Literacy, Numeracy, Communication and Life Skills.
Peace Village in Quang Nam province has over 100 residents, including over 20 special-needs children and nearly 50 other abandoned babies and children. Before CCV began its program, only one part-time physical therapist was available and no education was provided for the special-needs children.
Now, two additional physical therapists are on board full-time and CCV's professional teaching staff provides a full-day of schooling in four subject areas: Literacy, Numeracy, Communication and Life Skills. Each child with disabilities has an Individual Education Plan, and progress is assessed annually.
