William B. Leland purchased this the former Stephenson Funeral Home in 1952 and renamed it Leland Funeral Home. From 1982 to 2012 the funeral home was operated by the Hays family, In 2012, Jeff T. Koopman, a licensed funeral director and embalmer, began a professional affiliation with Hays Funeral Home.

It's weird to say but I have enjoyed working with Hays Funeral home, and the people involved. It has a beautiful, peaceful, serene feel to it.
We were treated with the utmost kindness by Mr. Koopman from the beginning to the end of the planning for my father. Mr. Koopman sat with my dad, at his home, and patiently listened to what he wanted. He gave him options. He also answered every question my father had and received many phone calls as dad changed his mind.
Mr. Koopman also visited a second time with my dad to help him lay to rest his concerns and questions.

Jeff is, in a word, AMAZING! We lost our dad after a short illness. His passing was not unexpected, but still terribly sad. I received a call from the nursing home just before 6am that he'd passed. The next call I received was from jeff at 7:30 telling me dad was at the funeral home already.
When we met with jeff later that day, he could not have been more kind and compassionate. He went WAY above and beyond to give dad a beautiful service with military honors. We did absolutely nothing...Jeff made it all happen.

Terrible communication, and genuinely awful people that run this place. You’re really better off performing your own funeral services rather than wasting your time and money here with these greedy animals. I have no bigger regret in my entire life than sending my dear aunt here for her final moments before burial. It truly sickens me. Avoid at all costs.

An immense thank you to Jeff and his wife and entire family. After losing two of our closest loved ones a year apart, Jeff and his family was there for us in every way humanly possible. His communication, respect, kindness, and services provided went above and beyond to exceed our expectations from a funeral home. I can't recommend Hays enough to anyone needing funeral home services; you will not be stressed or even disappointed in the slightest when working with Jeff!

Standing in front of my father in the casket, seeing him for the very last time. Kind of an important moment for me and my mother to be with our thoughts and ourselves for a minute. So you can imagine we weren’t too happy when after not even 30 seconds we were told by Jeff to “hurry up”. Clearly they don’t care about the people they’re accommodating to and don’t understand the weight of the situation. They simply just want to profit off of other people’s tragic misfortunes and make a quick buck. Find another funeral home that will care about you and your family.

I can't thank Jeff and Rachel enough for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism while planning my dad's services. Jeff really took the time to listen to us and get to know the type of person my dad was, and plan beautiful services with that in mind. They explained all of our options, listened to our wishes and offered their advice while respectfully staying inside of our budget. The services went extremely smoothly, due to their planning and expertise. They made an extremely difficult and overwhelming time much more bearable, and were there to answer any questions we had along the way

When you find yourself planning a funeral (for the first time) after someone you love dies unexpectedly, you realize how important your choice of funeral home is. Sure, there are certain aspects of it that are obvious, but I witnessed firsthand the time and effort that goes into the planning. Their attention to detail helped make the somber day feel a bit more special. When you are in your fog of grief, you need people you can count on to guide you through. I found that with Jeff and Rachel. I cannot recommend Hays enough.

Jeff and Rachel provided the most amazing services after the death of my dear cousin. Their compassion, guidance, and kindness was so on point and the contacts that they selected to perform the services were incredible. I can't recommend this location enough if you find yourself in need of funeral services after the loss of a loved one. The service that my family and I received when our mother Jessie Eddy Hughes passed was beyond all our expectations. The care and compassion that Jeff Koopman and his staff showed was exceptional. The entire funeral from the day my mother passed to the day of her burial went smoother than any of us could have expected. Mr. Koopman answered every question we asked and invited us to ask whatever we wished. To me and my entire family he went way beyond what we had seen at other funerals, including my own fathers
