Pros: price, proximity to Whaler's Village (an overpriced shopping mall), restaurants on site, friendly staff, comfy beds
Cons: the actual hotel is gross. First we were in the old building but the smell of mildew was overwhelming so they very happily moved us into a new room. We requested one of the renovated rooms (they made such a big deal on the website) but there were none available. So, we took a 3rd floor room in the building above the lobby. I saw 2 cockroaches and the room felt grimy.
Also, no room service but Round Table pizza is just a phone call away.

The KBH is WONDERFUL!!
I can't say enough good things about this hotel.
So I shall share a top 5 list of why you should stay here when in Maui.
1) Location location location! It's in the heart of Kaanapali. Close to Lahaina and Kapalua (about 15 mins to each) it was easy to access the best of Maui. You can walk 5 mins and get to Whalers Village with upscale shops and restaurants.
2) The service! The entire staff is kind and welcoming and extremely helpful. It was cool to be recognized as a repeat guest, and receive a warm welcome.
3) The beach. It is one of the best, even amongst

Our recent stay wasn't what we had expected, this was our 3rd time staying here and to say the least the hotel has changed sure it looks nice with the new restaurant and remodel but it was the level of service and how we were treated that kept us coming back but that level isn't what it used to be and sadly we won't be returning it's disappointing because before the staff went above and beyond to make sure their guests were taking care of and now they just say sorry we can't sorry you have to go hunt down towels sorry no late check out sorry you can't even pay for

This hotel was perfect for my new husband and I on our honeymoon! We stayed for 11 nights at the end of October in one of the renovated ocean view rooms, which were gorgeous! Nice to come back to the shade of the lanai after a morning in the sun. The hotel is on the best part of the long, gold sand beach, right near black rock for great snorkeling! We had a lovely breakfast at the Hui Hui restaurant, with open air views to the ocean. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Shopping for essentials is a short walk away. This hotel is very reasonably priced for a beautiful experience. The lei

I wish I picked the Ritz. The hotel room we picked was ocean front and it is short 1 minute stroll into the beach which is nice.
Now the bad: when we arrived, we greeted by receptionist who was probably sleeping and not the most pleasant person. she was telling us how she was freaked out about the night, but this is supposed to be Hawaii, paradise.
No busboy, complimentary Leis, or Valet. You park your car in a tiny spaced garage with your room key card. The room, unfortunately unrenovated built in 70s. small ast TV and shower (receptionist said we would have bathtub - right) and minifridge

Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. We changed rooms due to a crying baby every morning at 6am, so Veronica’s solution was to downgrade us to an adjoining room where we could hear every single thing our neighbors did. Never heard a guy like to hear himself talk so much as well as listen to somewhere over the rainbow on repeat. It wouldn’t be that bad if it was during the day but it’s usually been 1am and 8am. Also the new room faces the courtyard with the loud restaurant. Having worked in the hotel industry, I would think if a guest complained about noise, the manager would move

We found this hotel through the Costco travel program. The furniture in the rooms was a bit outdated and overall the room had a lot of signs of wear. The AC worked well (cant be adjusted but it was always at a good temp), beds were comfortable, and the hotel was in a good location. We didn't spend much time at the hotel, so it met our needs. The hotel was under construction when we went, so the elevator didn't work but the staff offered to carry our bags to make up for this. The building we stayed at was only 3 floors, so this wasn't an issue. We had some dining credit we used at

We stayed in a premium ocean view room, a package deal we purchased through Costco. We had a great view of the ocean and the room was nice. We loved the balcony and spent many hours relaxing outside taking in the beautiful scenery. I loved how close the beach was from the hotel as well.
The rooms have a mini-frig and coffee pot, but I wish they had a microwave as I had no way to reheat leftovers. There is NO room-service which was a bummer considering restaurants were only at 50% capacity.

I've stayed at Kaanapali Beach Hotel (KBH) many times as a child and numerous times as an adult. I've always felt genuinely welcomed back each time and I've never experienced any problems or issues like the ones described by a recent review. The hotel knew my husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and they provided a sweet note and a bottle of champagne to celebrate. The new restaurant, HuiHui, has been great for both breakfast and dinner-- they have some interesting fusion options as well as classic two egg breakfast options. We are staying in the older wing (not

My family of five and I are currently staying at KBH. To say that we are dissatisfied with our experience would be an understatement. My husband and myself have visited Kaanapali Beach Hotel several times through the years so it made sense that we would return for our 20 year anniversary with the whole family.
We are staying in the family wing which I understand has yet to be renovated like the rest of the hotel. We were placed on the top floor with an adjoining room with another family of four. Unfortunately they had a baby and two toddlers. After a tough couple of years with Covid and not

We had an amazing stay here. The location is unbeatable. Kaanapali Beach Hotel is on the best strip of beach! We booked a Costco package that included resort credit that we used at the restaurant, Hui Hui. The views from the restaurant are beautiful, highly recommend having a couple of meals here. We didn’t use the pool here (which is a little outdated) but had no problem since the beach is right there. The Lei ceremony at the end of the visit was sweet and unique.

The view is good. Make sure if you are upgrading from partial ocean view to ocean view to get a room in the renovated building and not the old one. People here tend to smoke in their patio even though its strictly prohibited and because of this if the wind is not in your favor the smoke smell would enter your room and no matter what you do it would not clear out. Hotel management should be more aggressive with their smoking policy.

We enjoyed our stay. Love the shade trees. You can see the ocean, sit in shade when you like. Close to everything Kaanapali has to offer. If you love to use the pool, you maybe disappointed. The pool is nothing to get excited about. We don't spend time by the pool with the ocean 🌊 right there. Reasonable room rates for ocean views. Very clean. Great restaurant on site, causal, open air with awesome views. We had a wonderful time staying there! Good customer service too.

I stayed here along with all of my wedding guests for my wedding in July 2021. I found a cockroach in my open luggage and the front desk manager told me sorry it's a tropical climate. They then had someone come kill the bug and they used my bridal sash to squish the cockroach. I then spent ALL NIGHT doing tons of laundry that I had to pay for because the cockroach was crawling through my clothes. I said I need to be transferred rooms. They said no but I eventually convinced them. I had a honeymoon photoshoot the next morning and accidentally left my outfit in the room when we transferred rooms

We got our package from Costco travel . We were assigned to the old building. I requested a different room the lady at front desk said we would have to pay more , ridiculous! So they didn't give us room in their newly remodeled rooms. Our room was so old , smelled bad and bugs, and last day noticed mold on shower door. We spent a lot of money but got worst room only thing was it was walking distance to the beach and walking distance to Whaler's village and location is great. so you come here make sure to stay in their new remodeled rooms even for remodeled rooms THIS IS an OLD HOTEL!

I stayed at KBH due to work, I live in Maui. Something important to note is that wifi/phone service isn't the best at this hotel. None of the rooms come with a kitchen or microwave, they only provide you with a mini-fridge.
The pictures of the hotel are a bit of a catfish or misleading. From the moment you step into the lobby, it feels like you've traveled back in time. It feels like you're in the 1970s or something. Yet, on their website, everything looks super modern. The pool is not that big and supposedly closes at 7PM.
Something that I really liked about KBH is how close

5 star hotel affordable pricing. Staff are 5 Star as well as the rooms and grounds. This was our default hotel from Costco because of the car shortage, but it is now our home away from home when on the Valley Isle. Staff are friendly, even when visitors aren't, and professional. Always willing to work with you. The Hawaiian plants on the grounds as well as the decor in the newly renovated rooms ensure this is a recognizable place for Hawaiians. Our room had a kupe`e niho `ilio. I was wowed. I asked for a room at least 3 stories up because of my tsunami experiences and they were happy to accommodate

We stayed here in beginning of July because of a sweet Costco deal we got. It included a free night, resort fees covered, rental car, $50 per day food credit and $100 tour credit. Very hard to beat that deal since the post-pandemic caused rental car prices to surge. And the food credit was very convenient. It covered many breakfasts, a lunch and dinner. You're gonna want to eat all over Maui so it was the perfect amount to cover at least one meal per day.
We stayed in a nicely new renovated room. Its up to date, plenty of space, big TV and a rain shower! There is a brand new restaurant,

I'll make my review short and sweet. You get what you pay for. First of all this hotel is still under construction. It's very basic hotel , nothing fancy. It's a 2 star for sure.
Elevators are not working at all time , they shut off the air conditioning one day that we were here . Services are hit or missed depending on the mood of your waiter or server.
They just re-opened their HuiHui bar/ restaurant. They were not prepared for amount of people or volume I should say.
We couldn't get in at first even though they were only taking hotel guest. We made a reservation for 7

I had the fortune to stay here one night in May on my post pandemic trip to Maui. What a treat! Now I need to be very clear on some things. This is not a fancy sparkly new hotel. It is an older, retro,well-kept, authentic Hawaiian hotel. Quite frankly, I love that! Love love love! I also love the real aloha spirit that permeates everybody who works here. Seriously, from person to I met in the parking lot to the bell person, the waiters, Front desk... Everyone! It was pretty amazing.I had a little hiccup with my room--A strange noise coming from another room--And they responded immediately.

Came here to stay for 3 nights; this is family own resort and we really thought our money should be spent here. The staff is wonderful; friendly, engaging and warm. The hotel is that of an older property, in the 70's vibe but distinctive. Our room was a well, older decor, single stand up shower, king bed was semi comfy, mini fridge, safe and balcony with chairs. We booked a semi view of the ocean but it wasn't the case. You gotta lean over the railing to see the ocean (not kewl). The deli mart sandwich is $12 but little too high for the type of sandwich, the restaurant was good. Overall

We stayed here for 5 nights for vacation over Thanksgiving break. This is only our second time on Maui, with the first one being our honeymoon over 13 years ago. Back then we stayed at the Maui Hyatt.
The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is basically a no-frills hotel which is totally fine if you value low prices (about $250/night including taxes), comfortable rooms, and walking distance to gorgeous Kaanapali Beach and shopping/eating in Whaler's Village. If you expect spa services, a basic gym, separate adult swimming pool, and fine onsite dining, this is NOT the best hotel to choose.
