Great Wall Chinese Restaurant

Fairly straightforward Chinese takeout place. One of the more cleaner ones, as well.
HEADS UP. THEIR CHICKEN CHOW MEIN DOES NOT COME WITH NOODLES

This place never disappoints me. I love their hot and sour soup. This is my favorite place to go to get lo mein and general Tso's chicken. The staff is quick too. I can't wait to use them more in the future.

UPDATE: They made it hot PLUS they gave me an extra side of hot to add AND they made us lo mein instead of chow mein despite MY MISTAKE! FREE. 5 STARS NOW!
They'll get 5 stars when I ask for 3X hot and get ANY heat! Not even spicy! Great food but for 15 YEARS of coming here, I can't get them to listen TO SAVE MY LIFE! HOT MEANS ADD RED PEPPER! WHEN I SAY MAKE IT HOT LIKE I WANT YOU TO BE VINDICTIVE, DO IT! GEESH!

Ordered Pepper Steak combo . Pepper Steak had 5 pieces of peppers lots of onions and about 9 pieces of steak. Fried rice had 4 pieces of meat no peas, carrots, onions or egg and most of all no flavor. Egg roll was ok. I know things are bad all over with service and no one wanting to work but this is ridiculous.

This place is a joke! We ordered a combo that comes with a pork egg roll, we do not eat pork. We were told they could make us crab egg roll instead of pork. When our order was ready (15 mins later) we checked the bag in the car to make sure everything was in there. The crab egg roll was missing from the combo. We went back in to let them know, and get the egg roll, were told they don’t make crab egg rolls. No one offered to correct our order, they just acted confused. We left dissatisfied and will never go back here again. I don’t recommend this place. Choose wisely!

Came here all the time. Today I was charged for chili oil...wasnt much but I ordered FOOD, since when do you have to pay for sauce??

Super friendly, great prices, best buffet within 500 mile radius, amazing takeout... This is really all that needs to be said about this place; Besides, you need to try this place, if you love Asian food!

It was honestly disappointing, it had no flavor. They basically sell hot food that tastes kinda gross. But you burn your mouth so much you can't tell if it's even good. The food didn't look appetizing and plus the children who are basically running the place is a bit unsettling. I wouldn't go here again.

I actually really like the food. This location leaves much to be desired in the forms of customer service. I placed an online lunch order and paid online. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was told that they do not accept online payment, which is strange as I had to input my card information to make the order and was asked to pay again. I will be double checking to be sure that I wasn't charged twice and will dispute those charges if I was. I waited ten minutes in an empty restaurant while all employees were on their phones while my order hadn't been started. I'm 20 minutes into

Great place to eat. You can call it in it will be ready in 10 minutes fresh and hot. The owners are personable after you get to know them. It’s all about business there, so don’t think you’re going to fit in like family with the owners. It is rather pricey for what it is, but you will always get fresh food that will still be hot when you get it home. My wife thinks their crab Rangoon is to die for I think it is As well. Excellent portions great taste about seven tables in the restaurant have seen it full Many times. Make sure you are clear with what you want to eat. The owners do you speak

Great food, made fresh when you order it. I love the orange chicken, hubby loves the general tso chicken.

The lo mein was decent but the chicken fried rice, it tasted like some sort of cleaner had been sprayed on it and was neon yellow. Two bites to make sure I wasn't imagining things and it went in the trash. Not to mention it felt like I was bothering the staff just by picking up my order. Looking at reviews neither issue is a first time complaint.

As far as Chinese food best ever. Amazing honey chicken. Definitely going to throw a fat man tested fat man approved for this. Portion sizes are huge probably should have split my meal four ways, that said very cost effective. Their menu is extensive and the service was courteous. I would recommend it to anyone.

Interesting story...my uncle Darren used to always tell me that the best restaurants look dirty. Well according to my uncle Darren, the food at the Great Wall was going to be great! Here's the problem, by all accounts my uncle Darren was an idiot and he died from food poisoning. The employees seemed to be 30 something dudes who just came off a Friday night bender. The food was overly sweet and watery. To top it off, it was expensive.

We ordered general Tao s chicken and chicken fried rice. The food was inedible and went in the trash. The chicken had an overpowering chemical taste and the rice was neon yellow and tasted "earthy". We will not be eating there again

I feel like a lot of the reviews for this restaurant are a bit too critical. The food is generally very good, tasty, large portion sizes, and very reasonable prices. I don't go way too often, but I have not encountered any rude staff yet so I'm not sure what everyone is talking about. Maybe it just depends on what hours you go and who was working. Overall I would say this is a great Chinese restaurant and anyone considering going should definitely give it a try.

This is mediocre food. The staff is rude. It would be an improvement if the person working the counter acted like they gave a care if you were there or not. They have always needed a customer service tutorial. Am glad that Derby is beginning to acquire new Asian food options.

If you are looking for American style Chinese food Great Wall is for you! Their sweet and sour pork is grade A and the MGNT team is extremely kind and warm. If your in Derby this is a must stop!!!

Not impressed...noodles wernt cooked rice was very dry and wasn't cooked all the way. First time I've eaten here. Won't be back.

Food is cooked to order and pretty good; serving sizes are large. So about the staff; I don't know if I would call them rude but they are definitely unfriendly. Competition is increasing in Derby with Panda Express in town now and a Chinese buffet joint supposedly opening up right down the street. It would be in their best interest to step it up in the customer relations department, a simple smile would work wonders...

Pro tip: if you use their online ordering system DO NOT enter your credit card info into their website. When they receive your order, your credit card # and expiration

This is your garden variety Americanized Chinese carryout place. We ordered Lo-mein and beef with broccoli and it came to almost 30 bucks. Nothing seemed to be bursting with flavor. I mean, it was just OK. For a hole in the wall place like this, you'd expect a little more passion put in their food.

For the money though, you're really better off spending 23 dollars and getting the chinese family meal at Dillon's for the same quality but still get a WHOLE lot more.

Service sucks a lot. The girls there are really rude, they don't even greet you when you enter the restaurant. They give me a lot of attitude when I was ordering. Food is not all that great. They put too much nuts and veggies in some of their food. Lunch combo us a pretty good deal though.

I'm not a 'service' snob. I care about cleanliness & quality of food.

Service was nothing great but not bad either. We ordered at counter and sat down. No need for random chit chat.

Crab rangoons - hubby didn't like cause the putter shell ws sweet but I real liked them!

Chicken fried rice - not really fried rice. .Lol. More of a chicken broth flavored yellow rice with a few pork (yes pork, not chicken) cubes and some onions. It's wasn't bad but was not the typical fried rice.

Pork Lo Mein - OMG it was the best I've ever had. It's wasn&apos

I am very fond of the food!!! I love the rice and the egg rolls..... BUT, the staff is rude! Very rude! I have to really want it to go here. Most service is call in & take out. Talking to them on the phone is frustrating!

Chains all around town. This location is always slow I call in on my lunch break and they tell u 5-10 mins but ends up being 20-25 mins. Which is no good when my break is only 30 mins

Great food. However there are several sacrifices to be made when eating here.

1. Horrible customer service. Do not ever expect to be treated kindly or politely by the staff. My wife has left nearly in tears before based on the way they treated her.

2. Their most popular menu item is the Sesame Chicken. As a result they only offer this item as a combo (the largest portion & most expensive option) rather than allowing a smaller, less expensive portion to be ordered when needed. This in my opinion a very sneaky & deceptive tactic. I asked one time about ordering in the smaller pint size
