Both of these famous martial arts schools taught a comprehensive martial arts curriculum including both Northern and Southern kung fu fighting styles as well as internal kung fu training including the gentle art of Yang style Tai Chi Chuan (taijiquan).
The Adult Kung Fu classes cover forms, Shaolin Five Animals, flexibility, speed, balance, weapons, conditioning, footwork, bridge hands, fighting forms, sparring, Chi Kung, meditation, Shuai Chiao (takedowns),C hin Na (grappling & controlling) and much more. You can expect to be pushed to work hard while learning unique kung fu skills and having fun.

The kids martial arts classes at SWYI include the best Shaolin techniques as well as Kung Fu philosophy such as Humility, Respect, Righteousness, Trust, & Loyalty.
Tai Chi and Chi Kung rely on a smooth flow of postures combined with precise breathing patterns to achieve impressive mental and physical health improvement. Tai Chi Chuan literally means "Grand Ultimate Fist" and Chi Kung when translated means "Energy Training" these two arts have been used to deliver improved health and vitality for centuries!
Indian Yoga is closely related to Chinese Chi Kung (sometimes called Chinese Yoga) and there are many similarities in the training methods and practice theory. Flexibility, stress relief, breathing, strength and balance as well as body awareness and control.

When adopted as part of the regular martial arts training regimen the yoga classes will help you to unleash new skills and abilities while improving strength and conditioning as well as preventing common training injuries and aiding recovery from regular training sessions.

This is an incredible school with even more amazing instructors. Sifu is incredibly patient and kind to both newcomers and people learning another martial art. He's knowledgeable and always willing to give advice. The instructors are also knowledgeable about the forms and applications to forms. I'm so proud and happy to be a student of this school.

Our daughter has been attending this school for almost 2 years. She was very interested in learning Kung Fu, so we visited many schools in the area before choosing this one. From the first lesson onward we've been impressed with the consistency and level or teaching. All of the teachers are extraordinarily patient with the kids regardless of skill level and ability to focus. The learning environment is fantastic as well. The kids learn both the external, physical aspect of Kung Fu, but also the internal - the mental and emotions aspect. This school is a gem in the area that are both

I've studied at many, many different martial arts schools over an extended period of time, but I have Shaolin Wu-Yi to thank more than any other. There is a true love for the art here. Capable, experienced instructors work with you to make sure you achieve your goals, whether self-defense, performance, fitness, competition, or anything else. The quality and standard of training is enormously superior to the cut-and-paste "McDojo" environment of factory-line black belts, which so many people who have tried martial arts before are familiar with. At Shaolin Wu-Yi Institute, you'll develop a powerful

I began training at this school in 2008, and it jumpstarted my current love of the martial arts. When I first visited the school, the traditional Chinese interior and obvious care for the equipment caught my eye. However, it was my meeting with Sifu Travis Alschbach that made it clear how different this school was from others in the area.
If you are interested in learning martial arts for any reason -- health, self-defense, strength gaining, philosophy, etc -- then this is the school for you. All aspects of Kung Fu are taught (and taught well), including basic movements, forms, joint locking,

Great school if you're looking for Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu! All the students and instructors are friendly and very welcoming. Sifu Alschbach is very skilled and very knowledgeable in Northern Long Fist, Southern 5 Animals and Yang Style Taijiquan. You never stop learning new skills and techniques no matter how long you've been training. I've been training for just over 5 years and I'm still loving it!

I have been at various martial arts schools over the years in different states, and I have never found one with the positive atmosphere of SWYI. There is a special combination of intensity of practice, quantity of material, group helpfulness, and family feeling that is unmatched. Sifu Alschbach is an excellent teacher, both patient and articulate. The many black belts who stick around to keep training is testament to the quality of the traditional material and the effectiveness of the school environment. If you like kung fu, this is an awesome place to be!

Absolutely wonderful school. It completely changed my life. Sifu Travis Alschbach is incredibly skilled and knowledgable for whom I have only the deepest respect. The instructors are skilled and excited about Kung Fu and are quite flexible and accommodating with schedules. The lineage goes straight back to the Shaolin Temple and the Kung Fu taught has been kept alive and pure through the dedication and passion of those who've passed it down through the centuries. I whole-heartedly recommend this school full of, not only respectful and welcoming people, but a beautiful and timeless art which still

If you are looking to learn Chinese Martial Arts, this is the place to be. A well balanced teaching from traditional weapons and open hand forms (taolu), to sparring(sanda), to the internal arts(taiji). There is even a yoga class. Great instructions.

For two years, my son has attended lessons at Shaolin Wu-Yi Institute. He is now going into 3rd grade, and he loves going to Kung Fu. I have seen him grow in his skills - and even become willing to compete which is a big deal since he tends to be an introvert. Sifu and the rest of the teachers have been instrumental in helping my son develop respect, discipline, and independence. He wants to work hard here, but what is most important to me is that he runs out with a huge grin after every lesson. He really enjoys being a part of this community.
P.S. I also feel we get great value for our monthly
