We stayed at the Highlands Inn October 22-24, 2021. While the Inn is a great location and has some charm due to it's history, there are some things that were unacceptable to us. For example, the bed mattresses and sheets were obviously historic. The mattress was the same exact pattern of mattress I purchased in 1994. See photo - clearly not newer even in last 7 years. The sheets were pilly and scratchy - which is a huge disappointment as well. We hardly slept all weekend in the uncomfortable bed and sheets. The Inn owners keep it clean, but some updates must be made. The bathrooms have warped small

Apparently this place used to be full of nice people, however I was there a couple of weeks ago and the service in their restaurant was abhorrent. I couldn’t believe how rude the server was, it was a Russian man, or from somewhere with a similar accent. He wouldn’t look at us, he walked away as we asked questions and never checked on us. The food was tasteless, although he wouldn’t know since he didn’t ask how anything was but instead threw down the tablet so we could pay and stood over us as we did it, seemingly to cause intimidation in order to get a good tip. Well I’m glad to say how

This is a great Historic Inn. You will enjoy antique furniture from the lobby to the suites. Front desk even offer cookies certain days 7:00-9:00pm. If you arrive in the middle of the day you might get lucky and get a parking spot on Main Street, otherwise on the side streets you can find a one. Breakfast is included and offers good choices.

Reviewing the restaurant only because I didn't stay at the hotel and only stopped in for breakfast.*
The place had such a historical, old-world feel to it. We really liked the atmosphere because it felt like being in the 1800s with the decor. The server, a Ukrainian man, was the hardest working restaurant employee I've ever seen. He was greeting customers, seating, taking orders, delivering food. He was the only employee we saw in the whole restaurant. He was doing everything! Besides cooking as he got the food from someone else in the kitchen, but we jokingly wondered if he was cooking the food

Stayed here for the weekend. They didn't make up our room! We were out from 11 to 3 and no one ever came to make up our room! We even had the sign on the door that said please make up our room. Seriously!
We had to ask! Found a bug in the bathroom. We had what we was a lovely corner room, but the hotel is on the corner of the two busiest streets in town. So it was very noisy. Additionally, fyi if you go to Highlands, bells chime the hour all day starting at 7am, so plan to get up early!
No telephone. No wifi! No service for our cell phones in town. When we spoke with the front desk

This inn has so much potential, but the owner needs to spend some money. The facility is run down. The public rooms are dim, dark and cluttered (there is a difference between antique and just old furniture.) My room was comfortable and reasonably clean but again not in the best of shape. Breakfast was a square of microwaved egg and sausage casserole - no fruit or toast. It tasted good enough but maybe one strawberry on the side would have made it look not so lonely. There is an ever-present musty smell, especially in the creepy basement where the public bathroom is located. They offer free WiFi

I am back because my review on TripAdvisor was deleted. I stayed here in April and was shocked by the poor condition of the rooms and hotel. The bed was lumpy, and the pillows were hard. We wore coats to breakfast for our microwaved meal of biscuits and gravy served in a dark dining room with no lighting. However, the two staff members were pleasant.

First I would like to give one compliment to the older gentleman who works the desk late night- he was friendly, accommodating and understands customer service. Otherwise this Inn needs a complete overhaul, especially for the price. The rooms appear to have been last renovated in the 80's at best. There are broken blinds, cobwebs in the window sills, and the lobby has not been touched in many, many years. Don't expect your coffee or toiletries (including tp and tissues) to be replaced on a daily basis. Lastly, the remainder of the staff we found to be incredibly rude. They were

Love this place! They are very accommodating and friendly. When I want to have a staycation I'll come here. The rooms are quaint and it has a homey feel. The beds are FAB. It's centrally located making it easy to get around Highlands on foot. ( especially after a night eating and drinking) Great breakfast on the weekends! Definitely recommend!!

A last minute Google result when our 30th anniversary plans got washed up just before hitting the road. Divinely picked for us! You do have to remember you're staying in a 138 year old house -- much like an old lady. She creaks and squeaks but she's charming. Wonderful mattresses and pillows, clean towels and housekeeping every day. Updated rooms with nice and clean baths, good water pressure, good AC. Wonderful desk staff, Diane, Diana and Kevin -- gave us all the great places to eat, shop and experience. Great conversation. Good simple breakfast comes with your room made to order

Spent several nights here last weekend... very relaxing and enjoyable! Quaint older hotel. About 40 rooms. Staff excellent and lodging superb, even if pretty much set in the 1970-80's. We loved it. Snowed our last day there (October 29th). Great restaurants nearby. Try Wild Thyme, BUT make reservations!! PS - It's NOT a dump!!! Some people's tastes sorely lacks!!! Oh, great breakfast included with your room... Ahhh love their sausage gravy & biscuits AND tell Dianne hello from us. She's a lovely lady!!

This inn furnished with "antiques" is more like staying in the middle of a flea market, a wet moldy flea market. The place smells, the rooms were not clean, the only antique I saw in the inn was the mattress I was given, which I could not have possibly slept on for one additional night. The towels and all of the linens were of walmart quality, our balcony had an empty pot which my friend mistook for an ashtray, where he smoked a cigar and caused me to have @250 added to my bill. The tv was about the size of a computer monitor, the hallways were dark and musty.

What a dump! Walking into the Inn your senses are overwhelmed by the musty "grandma's house" smell, the furniture in the lobby are also things you would find in your local goodwill. We upgraded to a "suite" thinking that would give us a nicer room, but no it was just as bad. We were given the Miss Major's Suite, the furniture, curtains and bed had not been updated since 1989 and seemed like they had not been cleaned since then. The bathroom was just as horrible with moldy grout in the shower and personal items left over the the previous guests. We were scheduled to

The lady at the front desk was very friendly. The place is old, though. Without a multi-million dollar renovation, this place isn't going to be nice. There is an old smell and feel throughout. The carpet is very thin and the bathrooms are dated. We only stayed one night and couldn't wait to leave. I felt depressed just being there. On the plus side the bed was comfortable and it is a clean place. We were in town last minute and they were the only place in town who had rooms available.

This place is absolutely adorable. The staff is beyond courteous. The rooms are very cute - each room has their own unique feel. My room had its own balcony. It was great to sit outside on my own patio overlooking the "gardens" as drinking my morning coffee while the rain poured down. So relaxing and wonderful.
I would DEFINITELY come back!
