Pros: Great location with easy walk into town.
Cons: While everyone is experiencing staffing issues, the one area I would not want short comings would be cleaning. We booked the Grand Plus and the room had several cringeworthy issues all from neglected cleaning (will try to upload pictures). The bedding had several stained spots, all towels were stained/dingy, nothing was dusted as there was significant build up on all light fixtures and fan, stains on walls, and the ceiling in the bathroom had several pieces of hair (guessing they mopped floor and used it to also clean ceiling). Our room was not what was represented on the website or over the phone. The sheets were dirty from the previous guest, the floors were filthy and the air conditioning did not work. After a very uncomfortable first night, we spoke to someone in the management office who simply responded with an offer to change the sheets. No apologies or explanation. Consequently, we left earlier than planned. We have contacted The Wells Hotel management several times by email and phone for some kind of reconciliation to no avail. No one has ever responded. Receptionist was great - professional and helpful. I read great reviews prior to our visit but our experience there was bland. Room was supposedly a garden view but the "garden" was a shared courtyard type space with a potted plant. Bed and seating (couch) were hard and uncomfortable. Plus this hotel is directly on a busy highway, which wasn't clear on the GPS map that made it seem it was off of a side road. Sounded great from reviews but we did not have a good experience. Thought about switching hotels after first day.

We had a wonderful one-night stay here - would stay again. We choose the smallest room to save some money but still found it quite efficient and comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive. Location is also excellent and everything in town is walkable (or driveable if you prefer). Our only small piece of constructive criticism was that the room was quite humid and it never completely felt dried out after a day there.

I went to highlands for a peaceful weekend getaway and stayed here. One of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time. The hotel was super clean, had helpful staff, and was so cute and cozy. I've already booked a room for another upcoming trip. The location is also perfect for walking to town, and there are great outdoor areas on the property to hang out and relax.

Private, well planned out and a block away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists. You can jump in and out of the crowd as you wish with this oasis that I am amazed escaped me for so many years. No need to keep up with a key, but that is a secret that you will have to find out for yourself. Gracious, accommodating and a glass of wine during check in. What a place!! 10 STARS if it were an option.

When we first stumbled upon this "hotel" , it seemed almost too good to be true. There must be a catch! But everything was as perfect as it seemed online. And even better in person. Nothing hotel like about it. Calming, inviting and friendly environment they've created, and Ian is the most thoughtful & gracious host. A must when in Highlands area.

Could not have enjoyed our stay at The Wells hotel more. It is in a fantastic location, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and it is freshly decorated. The Inn itself is so quaint and welcoming. The only thing we wish we had was one more night to be able to enjoy more time by the outdoor fire pit. The owners were so thoughtful with their beautiful renovations and it shows. We cannot wait to visit Highlands and stay at the Wells again. We highly recommend!

My wife and I had a lovely weekend at The Wells Hotel over the Valentine’s Day weekend. The room was nicely appointed and we were greeted by a lovely presentation of candies, fruit and “rose petals”. The staff was very friendly and location to downtown Highlands was very convenient. I definitely recommend The Wells for your next Highlands adventure!
