I recently popped in to Yemaso BJJ to train. I'd been following Professor Torregrosa on social media and knew he was legit, but I was delighted to discover how welcoming everyone at his academy was. His students I rolled with were all great to train with, and I left the academy without injury.
I will be back to train whenever I'm in the area and definitely recommend Yemaso BJJ for anyone looking to learn BJJ.

My home away from home, Prof. Torregrosa is the most detail oriented instructor I know. His system of teaching jiu jitsu has lead to multiple championships and world titles both for his students and himself. Always leading from the front, Marcos is one of the hardest working human beings I know. The entire staff is professional, the classes are always on time, and most importantly there is a culture of friendship and family.

If you are deciding on where to go to start and you've never trained BJJ, you will have the utmost attention by Professor Marcos and his students. I cannot emphasize this enough if you are new to BJJ as I noticed how much detail is passed to the new students as well as experienced..
I've been training for a few years now and I believe that I learned the most that I have in a fundamentals class in one hour since I first began training.

I started training here about a year and half ago, and it has been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. Marcos Torregrosa fosters an excellent and supportive culture in the gym and training here is a great way to learn BJJ and grow as a person. Visited Yemaso from the Philadelphia and was not disappointed. Prof Marcos and the team were very welcoming. I'm a fan of Prof Marcos as a competitor, so it was an honor to train at his gym. I had a fantastic time training here and most importantly, I felt safe and respected as a newcomer. I was able to get great rolls in while my training parters were also cognizant of our size differences. Come if you want to be pushed, challenged, and find a fantastic jiu-jitsu community!

I've been training at Yemaso for a couple months now, and it has already changed my life--all for the better. It's become the mechanism by which I develop myself physically, spiritually and emotionally. Marcos, owner and professor, is very demanding. But I believe it's because he wants Yemaso to continue being the most competitive jiu jitsu academy in Sacramento, and because there's so much to learn that he has to be efficient with how he teaches. Had a great experience with Marcos. We dropped in from out of town and everyone was very professional and welcoming.

I have studied at several martial arts studios over the years. I have attained my 1st degree black belts in both Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do. Jiu-jitsu is an entirely different animal and I wanted to see what it was like...
This academy is one of the finest institutions of martial arts you will ever find. Marcos, the head instructor/owner, has decades of martial arts experience and nearly 2 decades of Jiu-jitsu experience. As an instructor, and as a man, he is as good as it gets. My fellow students and the higher ups are incredibly helpful and supportive of anyone who comes in and tries it out.

This place hands down is the place to go if you want to grow and succeed in this sport. Professor Marcos is constantly competing, evolving, and challenging his students to strive for more! If you want attention to detail, challenging classes, and an instructor is loves his job wholeheartedly then look no further! The kids classes are amazing and are at great times for the parents. If the parents want to participate in the adults class in conveniently right after kids class! Check this place out! They have a groupon that will let you get your feet wet!

I have trained with Marcos for quite a few years now.
After some political turmoil with the old school, I trained with a few others they were all great but nobody teaches, instructs, mentors and explains Jiu-Jitsu like Marcos.
The school and team is competition orientated so be prepared for tough warm-ups and practices. If you want to compete and win Gold medals at every tournament, this is the school to go to. Nobody else comes close. They may say it, but they are not bring home multiple gold medals form every major tournament.
That said, rec players will have a great time training as well

Even before I moved to California, I knew Marcos was THE instructor who I would want to learn Jiu Jitsu from.
