Centre For Neuro Skills
While extensive longstanding research has not been conducted due to relative inexperience with the virus, information is emerging that strongly suggests the risk of neurologic damage. Centre for Neuro Skills is pleased to announce the opening of its newest clinic in Austin. The beautiful open design features state-of-the-art equipment, dedicated physician spaces, specially-equipped vans to transport patients to and from treatment, and more.

Ideally located, the facility itself allows for easy access to the surrounding area. Brain injury can occur in many ways. Traumatic brain injuries typically result from accidents in which the head is struck. This is the most common type of traumatic brain injury. However, other brain injuries, such as those caused by a cerebral vascular accident, insufficient oxygen, poisoning, or infection, can cause similar deficits.
Services
Our purpose is to improve the quality of life for our patients through brain injury rehabilitation. CNS teaches life skills to brain injured people, helping them to achieve independence. Each brain injury is unique, and each patient's treatment plan is tailored to their needs. Core skills are taught in our clinics, then practiced in our residential program.
In 1972, a devastating event left 21-year-old Steve Ashley completely disabled, suffering from locked-in syndrome and rendered him cognitively intact but dependent on a ventilator, unable to move his body, speak, or even breathe on his own. Conventional medicine and available rehabilitative therapies gave Steve no hope for significant recovery or regaining an independent life.
Centre for Neuro Skills was created out of compassion and necessity. In 1972, a devastating brain injury left 21-year-old Steve Ashley completely disabled. Conventional medicine and available long-term care gave Steve no hope for regaining independence. Steve was the first CNS patient and the brother of Dr. Mark Ashley, CNS founder and CEO.
From their first encounter with us, patients and their loved ones know that CNS has given consideration and forethought to the help they will need on the journey of rehabilitation. Brain injury is complex and the services offered at all of our locations have a primary objective: to help patients and families navigate the many aspects of treatment from admission to discharge and beyond.
Dr. Mark Ashley is the Founder and CEO of Centre for Neuro Skills, which has operated postacute brain injury rehabilitation programs in Bakersfield, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco since 1980.

In 2011, Dr. Ashley established the CNS Clinical Research and Education Foundation, a non-profit research organization, and he participated in the Blue Ribbon Panel on Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress convened by Generals Peter W. Chiarelli and Joseph Dunford.

The staff here are very professional and dedicated to healing the whole person in their care. I have known people who have received outpatient and residential care. I have met many of the staff from company executives to therapists to assistants to drivers. All well trained and caring for the patient in the role they have.

I would gladly recommend CNS for any TBI or other ABI injuries.

The staff is so wonderful & caring. They are constant in the review & evaluation of my husbands progress. We had other choices for him to go to but I so happy we chose CNS. We’ve heard nothing but good things about the center. So glad we made this decision 👍👏👏

Most staff at the residence are highly dedicated, a few others can at times seem stressed or combative dealing with some patients. It could be the stress or training, but in brain injury patients and their loved ones are working through a great deal. Search around and compare prior to placing loved ones in care at any facility if possible. This may be difficult without prior experience or knowledge of brain injuries. Try visiting places or perhaps checking with your insurance company for information, referrals or options.

One should be treated in a espectful manner which promotes healing.

I was impressed by genuine care by all the therapist. They took care of me as if I was their sister’s kid. Words cannot describe the tears of joy on my mom’s eyes the day I walked to her arm without any walker or help. I know my insurance paid for their services, but I wish I had more money to give them as an extra thank you. I am in debt to every one of my therapist till my last day on Earth. As some one who is familiar with big corporations BS, I need to let everyone know that this business is family owned and operated. Their goal is to help people who need help, not to satisfy some big shareholder

My friend from High School was in a terrible motorcycle accident and suffered a devastating brain injury, (initially the hospital had little hope for recovery). He is now living on his own with minimal assistance. This would not have been possible had it not been for the staff at CNS. We witnessed the miracle their dedication, knowledge, care, compassion and patience provided him. We can never thank you enough fir bringing him back to us.

This review is based on the inpatient apartment living. Well it is pretty horrible. Mom had a stroke and luckily she is getting better. But she hated it there. So the apartment is like being inpatient at a hospital. Every morning they herded her into the bus to go to your therapy. It's supposed to be like a home setting. You can bring anything from home. For every two people there is a caregiver to watch them all the time. Welp that the way its suppose to be. Often they were short staffed and had the poor things watching 4 or more people. With no breaks. Some are poorly trained and don&apos

My son was in this facility about 2 1/2 years after his brain injury. The staff at the therapy center were knowledgeable and very helpful to my son and I. They answered all my questions as much as possible and helped me contact other physicians and organizations that could assist us when my son was ready for dismissal in order for him to have the most success. They Counseled him, encouraged him and helped him make progress in all areas of deficits. They listened to my input from my observations and used it in developing my son's program also. We both feel like we made many friends there who

Under the care of very professional physical and occupational therapists I wnd walas able to slowly get back on my feet anayd walk. Today 2013 I can walk about 200 feet with a cane and a leg brace and I owe it all to the therapy I received here at CNS.

The more I read about brain injury, the further away this program is from meeting the needs. They simply are not current. The residential experience my daughter had continues to give her nightmares and the incorrect information she was told during the clinic day program continues to undermine her confidence. Truly, problematic and frustrating.
