Our doctors regularly call patients after an eye surgery to ask. I cannot adequately describe my experience with Southern Eye. It was simply fantastic. The staff at Southern Eye are the most professional I have ever encountered and they really care. On that first visit, from the first greeting to the check-out, I felt valued and important.

Routine and comprehensive eye exams are the key to preventing common eye diseases. By checking the overall health of your eyes on a routine basis, our doctors are able to detect any changes in your eye health and take necessary steps to prevent vision loss. Eyes are usually dilated with dilating eye drops.
A cataract is a clouding of the eye's lens. Our eyes work much like a camera, and the lens of our eye (like a camera lens) allows light rays to travel into our eye through the pupil. These light rays are focused through the lens onto the retina, a layer of light-sensitive cells at the back of the eye.

BEWARE!!! I had a regularly scheduled maintenance checkup; I normally paid $100 per visit. When I checked out, they wanted to charge me twice the price, 340 SOMETHING!. They claimed they did the same service as before but did not charge me the first time. I told them I expected the same charge as I was not told anything different. Every time previously I had called in to make sure what the charge would be for cash pay; it essentially was close to the same almost every time I went in previously. So I walked out and told them to bill me after having a disagreeing conversation with their upfront

Beware! They do not verify insurance because of the patient volume. My husband has new insurance and we verified that they accepted it. My husband and son went to them as new patients in April 2019 and while the doctor was good, it took three weeks for my son's glasses to come in and my husband never got his contacts. That's totally unacceptable. They blamed my son's insurance for the delay on his glasses.
The doctor he had last year got his glasses in a week with the same insurance. We learned today that they don't take my husband's insurance and we got stuck paying $150

I have been coming to this office since 2016. I have been very pleased. I have always enjoyed my doctor, Bradley Williams. He is extremely pleasant and explains procedures and course of treatment very well. Everyone is extremely nice and more than willing to help you if you look like a lost puppy dog. I've had great experiences in this office from my exams to my contact and glasses fitting. Highly recommend this office if you're looking for a new eye doctor.

I love this place! Ann, the manager of the optical shop is awesome! She totally hooked me up with the best glasses I could ask for. They exceeded my expectations. Usually, getting new glasses are such a chore, but Ann made it fun! Also very worth mentioning is the awesome Office Manager, Renee Bailey, she is the epitome of professionalism. Both Renee and Ann gave me an awesome experience in something I usually dread. They made it fun! Go see them, you won't be disappointed.

This office has phenomenal people from the receptionist to the techs to the Doctors. I was impressed at how the flow works so efficiently. I would definitely recommend SEA for anyone needing a eye exam . While we were waiting a super sweet lady handed out cold water and crackers for those who wanted it . They also have a free charging stations for your phones . The verdict was definitely glasses but the ladies up front took the sting out of it by presenting me with beautiful chic frames at a reasonable price . This is the Disney World of Eye exams and glasses.

Excellent!!!...and when I use that word it describes EVERY aspect of my experience with Southern Eye. From the very friendly staff that answer the phone and greet you with a genuine smile when you walk in the front door..all the way to the nice ladies that help with glasses. I can not say enough about Dr. Craig O'Dell!! On the professional side..he is very thorough and does a great job. However, it was his caring demeanor that I STILL am in awe over!! Put it this way...I would give them 10 stars if I could!!

I called for a first appointment and was told there was a wait due to an overload of patients. I explained my symptoms and felt they were serious and indicated a retina detachment. She immediately switched me to anorher staff member and after listening to my symptoms and asking a few questions she told me to come to their office that day. I arrived later that day and was treatrd like I was someone special. The first exam was a general eye exam. She explained everything she was going to do and answered all of my questions. She then took me to another staff member in his exam room. He was expecting

Dr. Heitman is amazing, extremely knowledgeable and polite, as well as on top of the lastest issues with how lupus & Plaquenil affect eye health. He's helpful too with advice to place the patient in the driver's seat and help care for their vision. So blessed to have him monitoring my vision for several years now! TY Dr. Heitman & Southern Eye Associates for superb service!

I recently moved to the Greenville area. Before my appointment I spoke with another ophthalmologist who I saw prior to the move. He happened to know and highly recommend Dr. Reardon. I was not disappointed, Dr. Reardon put me at ease from the moment I met him. He explained everything about my appointment with utmost clarity, professionalism and respect.

Beware! This group is too busy to answer their phones. Desperately called at 5pm and was told "Call Back tomorrow cause we're closed". Turned out I had a detached retina. Called back the next morning and still no response even from their Emergency Triage. Finally got in 19 hours later at 10:30 and got the bad news about my eye. Once in, Dr Steigerwald took care of business. Referred me to The Retina Consultants. Still fighting for my sight due to all the delays.
Be careful. Don't accept the mediocre staff service. Ask for another referral from your doctor.
