The name Taekwondo is derived from the Korean word "Tae" meaning foot, "Kwon" meaning hand and "Do" meaning way of or art. So, literally Taekwondo means "the art of the hand and foot". The name Taekwondo, however, has only been used since 1955 while the arts' roots began 2,300 years ago in Korea.
Known as a martial art and way of life, the evolution of Taekwondo was a direct result of the happenings in Korea long ago, and knowledge of the history is an important step in understanding Taekwondo.We teach our students to show respect at our dojang, the student begins by bowing to staff, students, and guests as soon as they enter the training hall.

He has learned martial arts at an early age such as Karate, Sport Karate, Aikido, Combat Self-Defense and of course Taekwondo. Which he has taken these Martial Arts skills to our school. We study International Taekwondo Federation (ITF), the meaning of Taekwondo is "The Art or Way of Hand and Foot".

Upstate taekwondo is more than just a place to learn the art of taekwondo, everyone here is family and we all support each other. It is great to see advance belts helping out the under belts and welcoming new students. It is a place to help build confidence and self esteem and I would recommend this school/family to anyone and everyone
