Golden Eagle Martial Arts is dedicated to providing martial arts training to those interested in participating in a lifetime activity of personal development, physical fitness, and setting goals. There are few activities that one can partake throughout our lives that pushes us physically, with reduced chance of injury, while at the same time allowing us to grow in our personal development.
We train in Nemuru, a system based on traditional karate and kobudo. We also add to that base many elements from several other martial arts. While honoring the traditions of the martial arts we also evolve our system to adapt to the present in practial self defense and the sport aspects of the martial arts.

We started as the Galway Karate Club in 1972 when Shihan Joe Sagarese started teaching Shukokai karate in his front yard. Later the classes moved to the Odd Fellows Hall located in the Village of Galway. Several years later the classes relocated to the middle school gym on the Galway Central School campus, where they have remained ever since.
People always have questions when it comes to the martial arts. Here you can discover what Golden Eagle Martial Arts is about, meet our amazing team of instructors, find our dojos, and understand our expectations of our students. If there is anything you don't understand or you're looking to learn more please feel free to contact us.
We practice Inuwashi Do in our dojos. What it means is that we train in one or more core styles and have enhanced it by adopting skills from many other styles. By doing this we have opened our minds to explore the entire world of the martial arts. We have an understanding that a skill from one style may have advantages over a skill from another or that what may work for one student may not work for another.
With over 200 years of combined training and instruction experience, our instructors, work hard to provide a challenging but achievable curriculum that allows each student to learn and progress at their own pace. We encourage our students and instructors to grow with their training, improve themselves on a daily basis, share the martial arts with others, and to participate in local, regional, national, and international competitions.
Classes are Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. This program is for everyone ages 5 and up. Students of all ranks and ages train together. We believe this benefits the students by giving them a window of what is to come. We have a high instructor to student ratio which gives every student ample small group and one on one instruction time.
