Services
Lakeside Veterinary Clinic is a small animal veterinary clinic providing comprehensive preventative, medical, surgical, and dental care. Dr. Sabean is also licensed in Medical Veterinary Acupuncture (MAV) for pets through CuraCore. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic tests which are available right in the clinic (such as X-rays and blood tests); we also use external laboratories for specialized tests when needed.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
No one can anticipate certain types of emergencies after clinic hours, but we know it is important to have a plan when the unexpected happens. Clients with emergencies after hours are encouraged to contact the emergency numbers listed below as soon as possible. Knowledgeable staff is available throughout the nights and weekends to answer your questions and examine and treat your pet if needed.
At what age can I have my pet spayed or neutered? Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6 months of age. However, recent studies suggest that larger breed dogs, such as Golden Retrievers, may benefit from later neutering at 8 to 12 months, to allow bone growth to be complete. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine whether your pet is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure.

Amazing! Such a positive experience! I just can’t say enough. The staff and doctor were all top notch and very friendly. I have been bringing my dog to this vet since she was a puppy. Both the vets there are wonderful along with the techs. The receptionist is also very professional and kind. They are always on time and they are wonderful with my dog. They are very caring and compassionate... They always get my dog in as soon as possible for any emergency. Highly recommended.

As I live in Scarborough Maine I drive to oakland with my sharpei's as dr ellie is terrific...she is kind and takes the time to give all options for my animals...I needed to call after hours and a call was returned either that evening or in the morning Her dedication to her patients and there families are unsurpassed....my drive for an hour and 15 min are important to the care my dogs recieve. This is THE WORST Veterinarian office I have EVER used.
I am new to the state of Maine.
I am also a breeder of highly prized Italian Mastiffs and needed to bring my dog into this clinic for a simple progesterone test which checks the levels for my female mastiff who was in season. After I was assured by the staff that this was a task they were not only experienced with, but would be able to accomplish, I decided to go ahead and schedule the appointment.
This progesterone test consists of drawing the canine's blood and sending the sample off to their lab then calling to get the results. Sounds

I havent even gone for my first apmnt yet but they were willing to help me out when i was at another vet and having issues they were able to give me answers and even offered to call around for a local vet to see me when my old vet refused to help me during an emergency situation very amazing service already!
