Three weeks later, at the age of 50, Andrea Hanson was diagnosed with colon cancer, and she and Brian and their kids set out on a 2 1/2-year battle for healing. They set out on their journey with two goals. Andrea wanted to honor Jesus. Also, Brian and Andrea wanted to keep life as normal as they could for their kids, all the while fighting to extend her life as long as possible.

Andrea hoped to be able to launch Joshua and Elizabeth into adulthood. Earlier this week, RCLS held what is a unique ceremony in our area: a graduation for our 8th-grade class.
Services
Nearly 400 students call RCLS their educational home, and as you will see and hear on campus, they love it here! A Christian school in Rochester, Minnesota that is grounded in the truth of Scripture, RCLS offers an excellent private education from preschool to middle school in southeast Minnesota. We provide a distinctive, independent education in Rochester.
Because Christ came to serve, so we actively seek to be in service to each other and our communities. RCLS offers a number of ways in which students may serve and practice social justice. Some of the organizations/projects that RCLS students have supported during the 2017-18 school year include the United Way coat drive, Toys for Tots, the Ronald McDonald House, and hurricane relief for a K-8 Lutheran school in Houston.
Post is RCLS's school-age care for students in grades 3-8. It is conducted as a homework academy with age-appropriate free-time activities available after homework is done. Hours are 6:30-8:10am and 3-5pm. Students still needing supervision after 5pm will be checked into Clubhouse to await parent pick-up.
RCLS offers a complete athletic program, including soccer, cross country, volleyball, girls' basketball, boys' basketball, softball, and track and field. The athletics program is designed to develop Christian character through team sports and to train student-athleties--spiritually, academically, and physically.
RCLS offers a number of after-school options. Current school families: watch here for details about ongoing opportunities in clubs and academic competitions. Lego Club is open to students in K-8th grade and is typically run in February and March. Students have access to thousands of Legos and have the opportunity to build in collaboration with peers.

We have had children at this school for over 10 years and it has been a wonderful experience. The teachers are attentive and caring. The environment is safe and respectful. Our children are well prepared academically and emotionally for high school and beyond.

We attended a couple of schools and this is where my daughter thrived the most and was excited each and every day. Staff is excellent and truly love the children.

Rochester Central Lutheran School has been an excellent choice for our 2 boys. RCLS is an extraordinarily warm and nurturing school. I have a child who need extra assistance and a child who naturally excels in academics. RCLS provides the extra help as well as extra challenges that each child needs. I feel like I am leaving my children with family when I bring them to school. The teachers are energetic and excited about teaching and they love their students. The school not only provides students with a solid academic foundation, it also focuses on Christ-centered character building.

This place lives up to their slogan 'more than just a school'. My kids have build strong friendships, spent time in service to the community, as well as received a well rounded education including art, music, and Spanish. The families and teachers have become our friends and support system. I feel our kids are learning to be moral citizens as well as prepared with a strong academic background. I love this place and so do my kids.
