Located in the Heart of the Rockies, we are surrounded by three mountain ranges: Sangre de Cristo from South, Mosquito Range from the North and Collegiate Peaks from West and fourteen peaks over 14,000 feet high. Salida's location and relatively mild climate attracts an array of outdoor enthusiast creating year round playground.
Salida has lots of winter fun activities, including the World Famous Monarch Ski Resort, great snowmobiling on well marked and groomed trails throughout the central Colorado. Drove in from Glenwood Springs on 12/19/2021 and needed to stop to sleep. This hotel had a friendly a friendly and professional clerk that evening. She did a wonderful job getting us checked in. The room was very clean and cozy and the price was great for off season. I will be staying here again whenever coming through for future trips to Aspen and Glenwood Springs. I would love to add that the holiday decorations were beautiful!

Really, really wanted to give this place 5 stars as it was thee cleanest room we have had our entire trip. Even the blanket was washed as it still had a few dryer fuzz balls on it which was awesome!! And the lady that checked us in was so lovely and accommodating. Then later in the evening when I went out to have a smoke, I noticed a spot of blood on the door. Not ours. Rooms are not very sound proof. Then, this morning, getting in the shower there was blood on the side and top of the tub. Again, not ours. When I showed the pics to the guy at the front desk he was light weight rude and very dismissive

We were originally booked to stay at the Best Western however they closed with no notification prior to our arrival in Salida. Finding this all out at 11pm at night we were livid about the whole situation. Gateway stayed on the phone and worked with us to find a room for the night. All the issues we had BW, Gateway made every effort to make our trip better. Thank you!

Do not book at this hotel unless you want to roll the dice on you actually getting your room or not. They have not one, but twice, cancelled my reservation at their hotel. They claim my card was declined yet I was able to luckily purchase a room elsewhere for almost double the price. Unbelievable. I do not recommend this place.
