Alimony is spousal support paid from one spouse to the other. Alimony can be awarded on a temporary basis while a divorce is pending, or can be awarded at the final judgment. With regard to general term alimony, the law sets forth durational limits based on the number of years of marriage, which will generally be applied absent a compelling reason.
In Massachusetts, there are two main forms of child custody: legal custody and physical custody. The issue of child custody usually arises in divorce proceedings, but can arise in annulment proceedings, modification of a judgment of divorce or separation agreement, care and custody proceedings, and paternity suits.
Once the Probate and Family Court has issued an order or judgment, whether it is a temporary order, or a divorce, paternity or modification judgment, the Court has the power and authority to enforce such orders and judgments. A party's failure to abide by an order or judgment of the Court can result in a contempt action.
Divorce is the dissolution of a marriage. There are two basic grounds for divorce in Massachusetts, no-fault divorce and at-fault divorce. No-fault divorces, where the specific grounds are an "irretrievable breakdown in the marriage, " are by far the most common grounds for divorce in Massachusetts.

I found Miriam based on good Google reviews and hired her for modification. My experience with her is mixed and I will not recommend her to anyone-

1. She is very knowledgeable and experienced but not well organized. She don't give you a clear direction regarding what needs to be done but rather just puts multiple options in front of you and asks you to choose one.
2. She quick to respond and easy to reach over phone. She connects quickly with you and does represents you passionately.
3. She spends time on educating you regarding different scenarios regarding your case.

My experience with Miriam and her team is mixed.
- They are knowledgeable, thorough and try to be fair
- They are not creative thinkers though, and not good at negotiating. Since divorce is all about that, this is problematic.
- They struggle with the details of your case because they work on so many at once.
- They are not motivated to settle the case quickly
- They are adept at billing, but will discount
- They are expensive

Miriam and her staff of lawyers were amazing and got me through a very contentious divorce.
