Lovingston Veterinary Hospital
In 1975 Steurant Ligon, DVM, established Lovingston Veterinary Hospital (LVH) which became the hub of both large and small animal medicine for the corridors between Charlottesville to Madison Heights, and Scottsville to Afton. He continued to run this successful practice until his death in 2008. His daughter, Jessica Ligon DVM, launched her veterinary career in Lovingston shortly after graduating vet school in 2012.

She has steadily grown her father's legacy into two practices serving the expanding population of rural central Virginia. The outstanding staff of LVH greets, coordinates, educates, and treats their valued patients with care and compassion.
Services
Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please do not hesitate to call us.
If you're thinking of getting a pet fish, you should know that your veterinarian has a lot of good advice about pet ownership. Fish can be very rewarding as pets, and you just may be surprised about how much fish actually interact with their owners. Thanks to advancements in veterinary care, today's cats can live well into their teen years.

COVID policies still in place made me feel very comfortable and safe bringing my pets (and myself) to the office.

My pup was in for a yearly check up. They discovered that he was tick infected which I had no idea. They also started him on a new dental chew which is working great and will probably save me a lot of money. I love all the staff, they are professional but kind. The service is fast and they dot all the i’s.

We have been doing business with Lovingston Vet for 26 years now. Our pets show no fear to spend time in their facility. Appointments reminders are the greatest thing so our animals are always up to date on shots and checkups. The employees always have my animals in their best interest. We are blessed to have this veterinary service in our little town.

Absolutely love this staff, and second generation Dr. Ligon! So caring with all of our animals, including ducks and chickens. We've started some journeys with these caring folks and ended some, and they have been knowledgeable, kind, and doting the whole way.

When we had to put down our dog last year, the staff were the best. A year and a half later, we were ready for another dog. We travel almost an hour to get to this place because they are the best!

Dr. Ligon and the vet techs are absolutely phenomenal! Our Great Pyrenees had FMO surgery about a month ago and is healing up fantastic. While she was in their care, they gave me updates and answered all my questions with patience. They took great care of her, and I couldn't be happier.
