Walked into the lobby to see if this might be a hotel I might like to stay at next next time I visit Paso Robles. Was immediately and unceremoniously thrown out of the building because I wasn't a current guest. For the record, I do not look or act like a vagrant or criminal. For this appalling rudeness I will never consider staying here and will discourage everyone else I know from doing so.

Hands down one of the best in class experiences for a relaxing, loving and exclusive weekend getaways. I live in LA so when my BFF in Northern Cali decided to meet me half way we settled on Paso Robles.
As I drove up to this lovely property, I was instantly delighted to learn that they had a cancelation and welcomed us in their last suite. They made room for us and shared their enthusiasm for our reunion. As Newyorkers we have high standards as luxury hotels go , and we werent disappointed.
The property is thoughtfully decorated. The outdoor fireplace and indoor library feels like home. The

I had the enormous pleasure of staying at the Hotel Cheval in April 2021 when visiting the charming Paso Robles area. I had never been to Paso before so came in with no knowledge of the area and no restaurant or wine tasting reservations - a big mistake during Easter break!

However, once I arrived, I was introduced to Susan, the Guest Services Manager, and explained what I was hoping to do when in town and my dietary needs and personal tastes. She got to work immediately, phoning her many contacts and created an agenda for me for meals, winery tastings, and spa treatments that were outstanding

What a tremendous find in Paso Robles. I’ve been a wine buyer for years, focused from the beginning on Paso. It’s grown into a special place and Hotel Cheval is part of that.
Every evening they stoke up two huge fires and serve “Grown Up” S’Mores!! OMG!!! My wife and I made such a mess! They also have a Candy Room Library!! One of the more pleasant surprises was an incredible breakfast served in the bar, with seating outdoors on a private patio. I had no idea when I made the reservations, that breakfast was included.
I highly recommend Hotel Cheval. Truly a magical find!

Really beautiful building in a perfect location to visit Paso Robles. Quality of decor and everything in the room was fantastic. The central courtyard was so beautiful as well. My two things keeping me from five stars and staying in the same room (Feathers) again are other guests enjoying the courtyard for a talk at night kept us up quite late (the courtyard catches the sound quite effectively and the room windows face the courtyard), and the bathroom sink is ridiculously high (my wife is 5 feet tall and the sink is at her chest height - she had trouble washing her face and needed a stool like

Finding ourselves homeless for one night prior to moving into our new Paso house, we stayed at the Hotel Cheval... after all, I've always wanted to stay here, and now that we're townies, we might not get the chance again. Yes, it's a bit of a splurge. Was it worth it? Definitely.

First off, this place is gorgeous. I immediately noticed the attention to detail, on the grounds, the lobby, and of course, our room. Our room was super comfortable and spacious. Big bathroom with double sink, and huge shower. The doors to the bathroom were a bit strange and didn't quite close properly

Stayed here for a couple of nights this past week. Terrific Hotel - really charming. Room was lovely, spacious and comfy bed. Library with candy bar was a treat. Polo Club bar served a good breakfast and had a nice Happy Hour option. S’mores Butler was a sweet touch by the fire each evening. Walking distance to in town tasting rooms and good dining. Would stay here again when in Paso!

6 stars, really. If you have the money, or can splurge, this place is phenomenal!
Do not plan to eat breakfast anywhere else. The food was so fantastic. For COVID they have you fill out a form, like you would for morning room service at a normal restaurant and they bring it right out to you. And you can go back as much as you want. We had brunch reservations the second day, and while that was great, this would have been a better choice. If you eat earlier, then have a later brunch somewhere, then do that. Do not skip this food. Won't single anything out because we are a large variety of things

In the summer of 2020 I took a road trip that had me (finally) exploring the cities along CA's famous 1/101 drive between LA and SF. One of the cities I explored was Paso Robles, a wine region with a prestige comparable to Napa/Sonoma. While the main draw of the city is the wineries, I wanted to stay more central to the city and use my hotel as "home base" when going to and from the wineries.

According to research, Hotel Cheval is one of the best hotels to stay in the area.

Unimpressed. Not worth the high price. Pony Club was closed, making this stay feel like an air bnb. The front desk was friendly but basically just there to check you in. Room decor and comfortable bed were nice. Ladies in the breakfast room were very friendly and accommodating.

Everything is wonderful- the staff was so helpful in getting us checked in 3 days early due to a problem elsewhere. The S'Mores butler in the evening is not to be missed- what a special and unique treat. Breakfast is delicious and everyone is always nice and helpful. It's a comfortable and lovely place. We will be back!

Beautiful property and many nice touches. The courtyard, reserved for guests only, had beautiful fireplaces and they brought only ingredients for s'mores and made them for you. They also served hot cocoa, as it was during Christmas. Rooms are spacious and luxurious. The location is perfect.

My husband and I have been wanting to stay here for a couple years. We have never been able to get in but finally did (we came mid week) and we were so please with every thing.
The rooms, service and staff and all the personal touches were just perfect. Fire pits with wine and s'mores and blankets were a great ending after wine tasting during the day and an early dinner in town. We used Uber Wine for the day and had the best driver. Anna Hernandez 805 930-5473. She made the day so fun. Had several tasting passes at many of the high end wineries and doubled as our photographer too. She kept

Went in to check out the hotel because we were going to stay there and was rudely greeted by the woman at the front desk. We were told we could not look at the courtyard, but could only see the lobby for “free”. Also knocked the other very nice hotels in the area in a very condescending way. The owners need to consider who they have working at the front desk and how they leave customers with the first impression. Our first impression was that they are very snooty and not welcoming. I would never spend my money at a property that does not make me feel welcomed. So sad. They have some work to

This hotel is lovely. We have stayed many times and always tell our friends to try it out. Here is where they fall short ...
One of the managers is absolutely rude and comes across snobby.
So when checking in, hopefully you won't have to talk to the one lady that has been there for years. I won't say her name but you will absolutely know it's her if she is there in the boutique check in area. Yes we know it's a pricey hotel but please be kind to everyone. It bothers me so much when other human beings appear to think they are better than others. We are considering to stay elsewhere

We have been to Paso Robles several times but this was our first time at Hotel Cheval which is now our favorite place to stay in the area. It is located within one block of the town square and convenient to shops and restaurants.
The property is beautiful. The rooms surround a central courtyard which has 2 wood burning fireplaces. Our room was named Endsleigh and located on the first floor. It's a well appointed room with a comfortable king bed, fireplace, large walk in shower and private patio. Here is a tip, if you would like a mini refrigerator request it when making your reservation

If there were 6 stars I would give it! BEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL I have ever been to! This is a bit of an over due review (My Mother & I visited back in Feb 2017). I brought my mom to Paso Robles for a Mother Daughter trip. I decided to go "all out" and get us a room here for two nights, & I can't say enough WONDERFUL things about this hotel!

First off, YES this is the priciest gig in town....but trust me it's worth the stay!

STAFF: I wanted to touch on this first! Top of the line! Everyone from the front desk ladies to the bartenders, housekeepers, and grounds men are
