We attempt to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. We prefer to schedule children under seven years of age and children with special needs during the morning hours for their comfort; school-aged children who require extensive treatment also do best having morning appointments.
When a child has a cavity in a front tooth we usually place a tooth-colored filling. If, however, a child has a cavity in a front tooth and needs a baby-root canal, we need another option. Traditionally when a primary tooth (baby tooth) needs a root canal, we restore the tooth with a stainless-steel crown.
Even though baby teeth will frequently fall out on their own as the adult tooth underneath pushes its way into the mouth, there are times where a baby tooth needs to be extracted. In general, we only try to replace missing or extracted baby teeth that will affect spacing and how the permanent teeth come in.
As dedicated, board-certified pediatric dentists, our comprehensive exams are very thorough. One of the conditions that we sometimes see in patients - even young patients - is GERD (Gastro-Intestinal Reflux Disease) or simply relfux. Reflux is a condition whereby the content of the stomach are sometimes pushed back up the esophagus and into the oral cavity.
