Dr. Stephen Mahoney, our mission statement is to remain fully committed to providing patients with comprehensive medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology services in a caring and compassionate environment.
Regular appointments may be made from 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the morning, and from 1:15 to 4:15 in the afternoon. In order to improve the security of our staff and patients, West Houston Dermatology will no longer accept cash payments. We are happy to accept credit cards, debit cards and checks with the proper identification.
SPF or Sun Protection Factor is a measurement of the minimal amount of time it takes for you to sunburn. So if you would get sunburned after 20 minutes of unprotected sun exposure, then a SPF 15 product would provide 15 times that amount of time or roughly 5 hrs of protection. So the higher the SPF number, the greater the amount of sun protection for both long and short periods of sun exposure.

While insurance verification will be done prior to office visits, it is the patient's responsibility to know what services are covered by their insurance company. All self pay charges, copays, coinsurance, and deductibles are due and payable at time of service.

I want to first thank Dr. Mahoney and his team they’ve been the most outstanding group of people that I’ve ever dealt with. A little backstory, I’ve dealt with plaque psoriasis for over seven years. No doctor could ever prescribe me anything that actually works. From day one Dr. Mahoney was honest very encouraging. He found a treatment on day one that has ultimately cleared my psoriasis almost completely. After years of embarrassing dryness and gross outbreaks, I have finally found my cure! Disregard any negative comments here its no where near the measurement of their great work here!

Dr. Mahoney is such a great doctor that I choose to make a long drive, 45 minutes from my home, to see him on a regular basis. I've tried many dermatologists, and he's the keeper. I have had psoriasis for many years (just like my dad!), and he is the first doc to institute a treatment that has worked for me to any extent. I am so happy to see a positive change in my condition after many years of frustration.
I will continue to see him as long as he is in practice, and will definitely be proud to refer my friends & family members as well.

I've been going here for 5 years and I don't plan on changing dermatologists any time in the future. Dr. Mahoney and his team are great and so very friendly! My appointment has never started more than 10 minutes late, everything is done in a timely and efficient manner, they're very helpful and accommodating when booking an appointment, and I always feel like all my questions are answered. They provide a number of cosmetic services as well, and offer gift cards.

Dr. Mahoney is the BEST! I started seeing him about two years ago for severe psoriasis. I'd had it since I was in college, but as I had aged, it had gotten worse, and the lotions and sprays prescribed by other doctors were not working at all. From my first visit, Dr. Mahoney and his staff have always treated me with respect - when he first met me, he could see how stressed and tired I was from trying to cope. $120 to tell me he can't help me and to go to one of his "colleagues". Tried to explain to the office manager that "he didn't do anything" but she didn't care and just explained that "I signed the paperwork." Which is true, I did sign paperwork, because I THOUGHT he was going to do something!! Lesson learned.

First I would like to say the only reason why I choose to come to West Houston Dermatology is because it is very close to my job as well as being fairly close to where I live so the convenience of the office is best for me. However, every time I come here I do not receive the best customer service. I’ve been here a total of 4 times, and each time it’s something new. I recently made an appointment, on the day of my appointment when I walked in no one was at the front desk, I went ahead and filled out the check in form anyways. I visited Dr. Mahoney for a simple procedure. The wait time was 30mins+. Dr & staff seemed like in a rush to answer qs, or I felt i had very limited time to get in my questions in. So probably 10 mins with doctor, and I think I shelled out close to 200 bucks.
The worse part was the surprise lab bill that came in mail afterwards. No advanced notice that they will do lab test, nor did they share any results afterwards. Been coming to Dr Mahoney for the past 10 years i have a chronic condition and have been able to keep it under control .
this is very important to me because hyperhydrosis can make your life a living hell.
I'm so glad that some one has been able to help me.

Worst dermatologist I've ever been to. Don't send in prescriptions for days, appointments last 3 seconds and no real time is spent with the patient. I have seen several doctors here. Only one has respectfully treated me. Now I have to wait until Monday to call again for my Rx to be sent to my pharmacy when I was told the Rx was being sent in immediately - allowing two more days of breaking out. Of course they don't return voicemails in a timely manner either. The customer service is truly unbelievable.

Great staff, kind and professional Doctors, I have the opportunity to see Dr. Mahoney for my alopecia, immediately explain to me what it was and make me feel good and relief right away, I went home with a bag of samples (other doctors have never give me any pharmaceutical samples) of course I went to get my prescription to the pharmacy and a month latter my hair grow back and never have that problem yet again.
I wen back for a cosmetic treatment and Janet is awesome, definitely will go back again just to spoiled myself.

Made an appointment to get my skin checked out since I have had acne since I was 16 and was considering doing a second round of Accutane.
I showed up 15 minutes early and they took me back to my examination room 10 minutes after my appointment time. They didn't weigh me, which I felt was odd since it's important to get the most accurate weight of a person to give them the right dosage of medication. A nurse handed me a urine cup to give them a sample for my examination since Accutane requires a false pregnancy test 30-days before the medication starts. I gave my sample and put it in

I had a very positive experience seeing one of the nurse practitioners here to check out some suspicious moles.
However, billing ended up being very unpleasant. I paid directly after the visit, only to find out several months later that my insurance had also been billed and my HRA deducted from (i.e. I paid twice). I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone trying to get a refund, left multiple voicemails with the billing department, and never received a return phone call. I eventually received a refund after a lot of persistence on the phone. Make sure you are on top of your insurance

Great office, they squeezed me in at short notice to see Dr. Foster.
I didn't get called back until 15 min of my scheduled appointment time hence why there is not a perfect rating.
Dr. Foster was extremely efficient and knew exactly what my problem was. He assistant had a great bed side manner and made me feel comfortable.
I will have a follow up with him in a month and I will update the review, however so far I am really impressed with his office and staff.

I went to Dr. Mahoney with no insurance a few years ago hoping to have my keloids taken care of. He gave me steroid injections until they were shrunken enough to operate. Each injection session cost $75 (and that was HIS call). Not bad for no insurance!
Sadly, my keloids came back and I went from having insurance to not having insurance and when I went in again, I was told that it was $100 just to be seen (now mind you, this is a .7 second meeting. A look and then a shot in both ears. In and out in less than 5 minutes), $80 for services, and then $30-40 for the medicine. So....from $75 to $210

Dr. Mahoney is awesome.
Great staff! Very informing.
I had my first chemical done here and saw drastic results afterwards, my skin was oh so baby soft and my complexion was better! Next time I want to do a laser treatment here.
Be warned - chemical peels require a few days of down time. You will want to itch like someone on hardcore drugs...don't itch unless you want a scar(s).
