We are located in Canaan, New Hampshire. Cardigan Veterinary Clinic is proud to serve the Canaan, NH area for everything pet-related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. Charles Hutchinson, who is a licensed, experienced Canaan veterinarian. Our team is committed to educating our clients on how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.
The all new Cardigan Veterinary Clinic is recently updated with state of the art diagnostic equipment including True digital X-ray and in house blood count and chemistry analyzers for results in minutes while you wait. We have spacious and welcoming exam rooms and separate waiting areas for dogs and cats.
We recommend and offer sterilization surgeries for all pets if you don't have "furry grand children" planned for your family. These are relatively straight forward surgeries that generally go home the same day. For clients on a budget we also offer Care Credit. We generally have you bring your pet in the morning so we can evaluate them for any special anesthetic needs.
Dr. Hutchinson decided to focus on Equine Dentistry shortly after he started the Cardigan Veterinary Clinic in 1994. Dr. Hutchinson has over 40 years of horse experience, nearly 25 years in practice as a veterinarian and is a horse owner and trainer himself. Dr. Hutchinson is uniquely qualified and licensed in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and South Carolina to perform comprehensive dental examinations, prophylaxis and corrections.
Dr. Hutchinson provides large animal care and dentistry services for elk, bison, deer and other oversized animals. Individual animal care, routine surgeries, exams and other procedures are usually performed onsite, but in unique circumstances, an animal can be hospitalized and cared for in our facility.

We have been bringing our fur babies to Dr. Hutchinson for over 30 years! Time flies! He and his team over the years have been unflinching in their practices and high standard of care. Emergencies, real or perceived, are handled with the kind of care and compassion we expect of any medical professional. 5 stars, for sure!

I wasnt a client and Dr. Hutchinson called me back on a Saturday because my rabbit was in stasis and neither SAVES or CAVES emergency would take " pocket pets" . I am now a client . I was so appreciative that he took the time to help me with what to do because GI stasis can kill a rabbit in 24 hrs and I wouldn't have been able to see anyone until MONDAY.

I would give a negative star if I could to a business that refuses service to my daughter for something that happened between Cardigan and her (now separated)spouse.
I bought my grand-daughter a rabbit for Christmas and it needed its nails trimmed, so my daughter called 5/3/18 to make an appt and was refused service becauseof something that happened long ago. Her husband thought he was being overcharged for services and decided to take their (now dead dog) and follow her friend to her new veterinary place of employment. You would think this business would relish a new client. Instead my daughter

Absolutely the best! They have taken amazing care of all of my babies (and there are a lot) for almost 20 years....I would not trust them to anyone else but Cardigan Vet Clinic....but not only are they wonderful to my animals they are compassionate and caring towards us as pet owners too and make sure that we are comfortable and well informed
