Q: Do you allow pets? Yes. Pets are allowed in most of our units. There is a limit and we do require either a monthly pet rent or an upfront fee which is NON-refundable. The following dogs are NOT allowed: Pitbull terrier-types (American Staffordshire/American bull terrier), Akita, Rottweiler, Doberman pincher, German Shepard.

I work in DeKalb, but since my main home is about an hour away, we bought a house in DeKalb to stay there while I work in DeKalb. Since we are not professional renters, we always struggle to find an honest, reliable renter. Marilyn and Trisha at Yamber Reality helped us to do exactly that. After showing the house to many potential renters, they found a wonderful family to rent. They also created a lease document that is detailed and professional. We highly recommend Yamber Real Estate if you are looking to rent your place.

Do NOT do business with these people. They agreed to a scope of work for a fire escape replacement at one of their properties in Sycamore and agreed on my price. Wrote me a check for 50% of the agreed scope of work and paid with a check. Next day we received notice that the scope of work would need to change slightly as code for the fire escape was not up to sycamore code. Marilyn took the liberty of cancelling the check deposit after already agreeing to do the work and after materials were ordered and I am now stuck with a $1300 material order to fulfill and no payment for this line of work. I

I rented a home from Yamber real estate for 3 years in Dekalb. They are always quick to respond to maintenance issues, and are profesional every step of the way. Marilyn has helped through this pandemic, they will work with you and help you on certian situations. I will definitely call them again if I or a friend are looking for a place in the future.

So as I'm reading these reviews, I see I'm not the only one. I set up a few weeks ago to look at a place. Got cancelled.. rescheduled for this weekend. Just got a call saying place we wanted to look at was rented. So, they cancelled the tour of course. Yes, we can only look at on weekends due to work schedules.. which is good both have jobs right? What annoys me is we didn't even have a chance to apply or even look at the place I emailed to look at weeks ago!!!! Ya, won't be going through them again!!!!!

The team at Yamber really care about their landlords. I was left in a really difficult position after Townsend put some awful and destructive renters in my property. The Yamber staff were so helpful and understanding. They explained their process and how it was different. It really gave me hope that I could turn things around. I would highly recommend them to anyone who values their property and wants it managed properly.

10 days after I moved into a Yamber property I received an unprofessional letter based on complaints from neighbors. I requested contact from Marilyn immediately. It took 3 days. I received an email, professionally detailing my complaints of the letter. The issue was eventually resolved and we are in good standing.
I understand the need to control unruly tenants. I am disappointed that it was assumed that I am unruly simply by a negative tenant's perspective. I have lived in the property one month and do not expect further altercations as the (very late) response was handled effectively.

I own several rentals in the DeKalb area. Over the last 10 plus years I have had several property management companies. Yamber is by far the best. They are quick to effect repairs at a reasonable price. They are kind but firm with tenants. They get vacancies cleaned up and re-rented quickly. They are excellent about background checks etc. They actually physically visit the properties on a regular basis and give me updates. Best of all they have made a struggling property profitable.
