Lownes Funeral Home
Our family owned funeral home has served the Philadelphia area and surrounding suburbs and counties for five generations since 1888. In navigating through our web site, we hope you will become well informed, not only about us, but also about your options as a consumer. Again, this is just a small sampling.

Our address is The Lownes Family Funeral Home, 659 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444 and our telephone is 610-828-4430. We believe that a funeral service should be a very special tribute to the life of a close friend or relative, and we encourage families to share their ideas with us to provide for a more meaningful service.
Services
The Dunlap- Lownes Funeral Home was founded in 1888 by William A. Dunlap, great grandfather of our present director, Randall K. Lownes, in the Fairmount Section of Philadelphia. Gladys Dunlap-Lownes, daughter of the founder, moved the family-owned establishment to its permanent location at 659 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill, in 1950.
At Lownes Family Funeral Home, our staff are dedicated to serving our community for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I'm the youngest child of my parents Nancy (Morrison) and the late Richard "Dick" Lownes. My siblings- Richard Jr., Ruthann and Robert, would probably agree growing up that I was truly the baby of the family!
Directions from the North: Exiting off of the Pa. Turnpike at the Norristown/Mid County Interchange, please follow the signs that say Germantown Pike East which is off to your right. When placed onto Germantown Pike, travel approx. 3 miles and our funeral home will be on your left after the bend on the road where the fire house sits.
We offer a wide selection of caskets and urns along with burial vaults. Our supplier of caskets is Batesville Casket Company located in Batesville Indiana, a family owned and operated business like ourselves. They offer to us and our families beautiful solid wood, steel, copper and bronze caskets with many custom options for families to choose from.
Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional religious or military service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have a non-traditional 'life celebration'.

At a time when your loved one dies unexpectedly, a person is at a loss and just trying to make the best arrangements as possible. From the first conversion I had with Randy & Wes, they helped me through the emotional process and made me feel comfortable every step of the way. I highly recommend them when the time comes that you have to make those arrangements.

Unfortunately, I've used the Lownes Family Funeral Home twice now. Each time they have made what seems like an impossible journey very easy. Quick to put you at ease & always offering great suggestions. Very empathetic, and always seemed to have comforting words when needed.
If you ever find yourself in need of a funeral home, you'll be happy you chose Lownes. I feel like I've known Randy for years.

There's not much I can say in such a difficult time however I feel the need to give praise where praise is due. They are truly a professional operation, the best in the business. Thank you to the Lownes family for everything you do. God bless.

Today I had the misfortune of attending a funeral service for my close friend's daughter at Lownes Funeral Home. I escorted my friend to the funeral director to retrieve the ashes and he pulled me aside and proceeded to have the following conversation with me: "You look familiar. I think I know where I know you from -- the mens room! Your photo is on the wall with your number and a big arrow pointing to it." Seriously. Maybe all the formaldehyde pickled his small brain. Who in their right mind (a funeral home director who should be educated on decorum) would ever say those words

My husband passed away 8 months ago and the Lownes was absolutely wonderful they made all the difficult decisions for you. Which was very comforting they were there to help you in every way. My family has used Lowndes Family Funeral Home. And always did a fantastic job.
