Dr. Eugene Wilson, the owner of Dowagiac Animal Hospital, comes from a long line of cattle and dairy-men, but is from the first generation not raised on the farm. He was drawn to the world of medicine his whole life and not only loves animals, but is intrigued by them. Dr. Wilson attended Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and worked in Benton Harbor, Michigan his first two years out of school.
From there, he went to a small animal practice in South Bend, Indiana. He has also worked at the Potawatomi Zoo and Notre Dame University. He owned his first practice in the Detroit area, but then he felt drawn back to Western Michigan. He opened a practice in Holland and lived in the little town of Hamilton.

I drive from Chicago to see Dr Wilson for my two small dogs. He is compassionate and loves animals and is experienced at veterinary care. I trust him enough to embark on the 2 hour ride into town. I like that most days are walk in, fist come. This makes it convenient when an emergency arises to bring your pet in with short notice. The staff is helpful, and they always follow up to make sure your pet is doing ok after a visit. I'd like to thank Dr Wilson, and the staff for proving exceptional care for my pets.

We went there today because our outdoor kitten was sick. We got there at the beginning of a rush of people but they efficiently and quickly took care of us. The bill was reasonable and the whole staff was polite and professional. I love the clinic concept because we could just go in and get taken care of. I will go there again.

I came in here because this was the only place that offers walk in hours, and it doesn't charge "emergency" price like many others. My cat had stopped eating, was quickly losing weight, and I was sable to bring him in the very next day. They were quick; professional; and the vet was very friendly. I also really loved that they told me up-front how much things were going to be before they did them. The exam was $43, then my cat needed a complete blood panel; which was $132, and a few other blood test ranging from $45. Then an x-ray which was about $45. But every step of the way, they

My beloved bull terror passed away on November 11 at 10:10 am of chronic kidney failure which went undiagnosed for two years. We didn't know he was sick, after reviewing the signs, he did show these signed but we trusted our vet. He has surgery two years ago and his blood work showed high levels of BUN and Rhea and a urinalisys should have been performed and my dog should have been on a specific diet and taking medication for this disease. Would he have passed away from the disease, yes. However he would have been more comfortable with treatments and it would have saved me a $3,100 emergency

This place has been amazing to our family. We brought our black lab here after having a poor experience at another clinic and receiving no answers. Dr. Eugene Wilson is a true godsend to me and our family. He has exhausted his brains and technology to figure out what is wrong with Bucky all while being honest and upfront about what the costs are associated with the testing. Dr. Wilson got down on his knees immediately after walking in to meet Bucky. He speaks to him (Bucky) with genuine care and heartfelt desire to want to help him. I am so lucky to have found such an amazing and caring vet. Thank

I would rate this place with zero stars if it allowed. I took my baby in here because she got hit by a car that took off. Her doggie brother was with her And he died instantly. She had 4 broken.legs a broken jaw and many other problems. We were told she probably couldn't recover. The dr left the room and the receptionist came in getting info for billing we told her we didnt have any money on us at the time. She left came back in and said they would not do it without payment first. Are you serious? Who does that to a dying dog? These people only care about money. I will NEVER EVER take another

Dowagiac A.C refused to save our unborn daschunds life because I didn't have my wallet on me for the quoted $500 fee. When I left running for the car (with laboring Daisy in my arms) to find someone who would help, they chased us across the lot to get $75 for the "office visit". Bergman Clinic in Cassopolis didn't even ask if we could pay, just said to get here there NOW! When it was all said and done, she had been in distress too long and didnt make it.

The rating is only five star because it will not go any higher. Seriously, these guys are THE BEST! They will take care of you pets like no other. Always friendly, caring, kind, and compassionate about animal care. There maybe other Vets in the area. But this is the BEST PLACE around as far as I'm concerned. They are busy, but there is always parking.
