Founded in 1980 and located at the First Church in Sterling Center, Village Green Preschool is nonprofit and nonsectarian. It is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). A VGP Parent Advisory Board determines school policy, makes personnel decisions and oversees the maintenance of the facility.
The preschool offers a developmentally based early childhood program for three, four and five year old children. OUR PHILOSOPHY is that preschool should provide a safe and loving place where self concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected. Help each child develop a positive feeling about himself, both as an individual and as a group member.

OPEN HOUSE is usually held each year on the first Monday in January. However, due to the pandemic, we are working on a plan to host a virtual Open House in early 2021. We are hoping to create a video highlighting the developmental opportunities in various areas of the classroom. We are planning to use this video in our Open House presentation and to post on our website.
ALL TEACHERS at Village Green Preschool are certified by the Massachusetts Dept. of Early Education and Care and/or have taken the required course in Child Growth and Development. They have experience working in a preschool setting and have an understanding and respect for young children. Teachers are expected to provide appropriate activities for the emotional, social, physical and cognitive development of each child.
